Japanese Memorial This memorial was placed here for the arrival of the first group of Japanese immigrants to Hawaii. It is located on the lawn near the Kennedy Theatre.
Hawaii Hall Original campus building in a neo-Georgian style: the oldest building on campus that was completed in the year 1912. The beautiful, the old : Hawaii Hall. Which in now the College of Arts and Sciences and School of Social Work.

Watanabe Hall • Located in mid campus, next to Student Health Services on Correa Road
Watanabe Hall • Named after Kenichi Watanabe • Received his doctorate in Physics and Mathematics in 1940 from the California Institute of Technology • In 1940, he joined the University’s Math Department
Watanabe Hall • Went to the US Naval Research Laboratory in 1948 and pioneered in the study of ozone concentration in the upper atmosphere • Spring 1969, received the University’s award in Excellence in Research • First “local boy” to which a University of Hawaii building was dedicated
Gate of Hope • Located near the street corners of East-West Road and Dole • Built by Alexander Liberman, 1972 • Sculpture refers to engineering principles to build complex structures
Gate of Hope • It is rumored that the sculpture is a replica of the “bad” finger. The creator applied to the engineering department, but didn’t get accepted. He applied elsewhere and graduated. The sculpture was payback to the engineering department.
