Welcome to our 14 th Annual Traditional Ballad
Welcome to our 14 th Annual Traditional Ballad Singing Contest ! A ballad is a song that tells a story. A traditional ballad is so old that no one knows who wrote it. These traditional ballads are a window into a much earlier time that is different from our own time, and yet the people in these ballads experience events and emotions that still resonate with us today. Sit back and enjoy the stories, and thanks for supporting our young ballad singers. CHORUS Up spoke the first mate of our gallant ship and a brave spoken man was he he said, "I have a wife in Brooklyn by the sea and tonight a widow she will be!"
