Prayer of Confession Merciful and loving God, we are so grateful for your redeeming love for each one of us. We confess that there have been times of doubt in our spirits. We confess that when the times of difficulties are upon us, we don’t always believe that you will take our burdens. We feel we have to always be in control, trying to demand the desired outcome. Help us to place our trust in you. Remind us that you surround us continually with your care, you never just let us go to drift aimlessly about. Open our hearts and spirits again to your healing powers. For we pray these things in the name of Jesus, the one who will take our burdens and give us peace. Amen.

Old Rugged Cross On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross The emblem of suffering and shame And I love that old cross where the dearest and best For a world of lost sinners was slain

So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross Till my trophies at last I lay

So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross Till my trophies at last I lay down I will cling to the old rugged cross And exchange it some day for a crown

Oh the old rugged cross so despised by the world Has a wondrous attraction

Oh the old rugged cross so despised by the world Has a wondrous attraction for me For the dear Lamb of God left His glory above To bear it to dark Calvary

So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross Till my trophies at last I lay

In the old rugged cross stained with blood so divine A wondrous beauty I see; for ‘twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died to pardon and sanctify me

So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross Till my trophies at last I lay

So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross Till my trophies at last I lay down I will cling to the old rugged cross And exchange it some day for a crown
