Classroom Rules • • • Listen when others are talking. Follow directions quickly. Show respect for school and personal property. Keep hands, feet and other objects to yourself. Work and play in a safe manner.

Reading • We LOVE to read in Willis and follow a Guided Reading Curriculum. • Whole Group Time • Small Group Time • Reading Stations • Shared Reading • Independent Reading
Word Study • Spelling • 20 spelling words go home for homework, they follow a pattern (10 for now, will increase) • 5 weekly sight words following the Dolch List (will be raised to 10 at a later date) • 1 Grammar sentence that the students must write correctly as we dictate it. • Every Friday we have our Spelling, Grammar Sentence and Sight Word Test.

Homework Folder • • Comes home the first day of each week. Spelling, Reading, Math Daily Spelling will have 4 assignments due on Friday Read 20 minutes daily (readers coming home soon) Math completed daily Reading passage read daily All homework is due on Friday. Other Homework • There will be occasional projects that are due from time to time.
Absent Work • All missed work must be made-up the next day. They will have the amount of days they missed to make up work (some may be sent home) • If a student misses on a day a test is given, they will make it up the next day back in class.
REDO Work / Late Work / Make Up Work Willis Policy Redo Assignments: If your student receives a grade of 69 or below on an assignment, he or she will have an opportunity to redo the assignment. There MUST be a parent/guardian signature on the failed assignment to indicate that parents are aware of the failing grade. All redo assignments will be time sensitive- 2 weeks maximum from date assignment was returned to student. All redo assignments will be completed during regular school hours or during tutorials. Maximum score allowable is 70. Late Work: In grade PK – 2 nd grade, late work will be completed during recess or center time. In grades 3 – 5, late work will be accepted at a penalty of 10 points per day, late up to five days. If work is consistently late, the teacher will call and request a parent conference. Make-Up Work: Students who are absent will have one day per each day absent to complete make-up or late work.
Supplies • We are always in need of glue sticks, Kleenex and Pencils. The students use them VERY quickly.
