Letter to teacher • ABOUT THE LETTER • The school of Barbiana was found by progressive educator, journalist and priest Lorenzo Milani (1923 -1967) to provide an alternative for poor children who had been pushed out by the traditional school. Letter to teacher was written by 8 students in Italian of the Barbiana School The schoolboys wrote the letter because they clearly examined the class bias of public schools and exposed the variety of overt and convert mechanism used by school to discriminate against poor students • This book is one of the most powerful criticism of the injustices of the conventional educational system and it was a best seller in Italy and has been published subsequently in many language

• The students had been failed out of school or were bitterly discouraged with the way they were taught. Moreover, they show the teacher’s behavior and discrimination between rich and poor people in schools • For example 2: At the gymnastics exam the teacher threw them a ball and asked them to play basketball without teaching anything. The teacher looked them over with contempt “ My poor children”

• In my opinion, I think this book is inspriring and invaluable for all people because it is built in the truthful story in Italy and it help people realize that every people have the same right and equal without discrimination in school or whenever in the world.
