General need to know information: 1. Students need to log in on time. We cover a lot of material and if they are late they may miss something important. 2. Assignments work just like they do in class. If it is assigned, then it needs to be done in a timely manner. 3. Students may log off early if working independently. I will stay on the meeting if they have any questions. 4. The chat option is available to ask questions. Not to make after school plans or talk to friends. 5. Ask questions if need be. First, open the computer and turn it on… wait. Second, log into the computer. User: student Password: Ringwood 1 Third, be patient while it loads…… sometimes it takes a really long time and sometimes it’s really fast…. wait. Next, Click on the Google Chrome icon.

Your screen should look like this… You should see your students icon or initial in 2 spots in the top right corner… If not… click there & Add user. . . To ADD user… Click the icon Click +Add Type the Students Name Choose a Clipart (picture) Click the Blue Add button…

Your screen should look like this…Click ALREADY a Chrome User? Sign In NOT Get Started!!

Now you’re ready to Sign in to Chrome… In the email box, enter your students email… First initial, last name, and last 2 of graduation year for 4 th grade that number is 29. EX. kogden 10 Ccatlady 28 Green. Pluto 29 mmouse 29 Then follow that with the school address… @ringwood. k 12. ok. us Altogether, mmouse 29@ringwood. k 12. ok. us Password: your student should know their password… if not you will need to contact the classroom teacher and wait patiently.

Once you have logged into Google, you are ready to log in to Google Classroom! To find the classroom look for the waffle! You will find the waffle in the right hand corner. Click the… WAFFLE

Once you have clicked the waffle you should see the classroom icon. This will take you to your students Google Classroom. It’s faster and easier EVERY time you do it. The kids are VERY good at this and CAN help you or show you!!!

Your student’s home screen will look similar to this. It will have all of their classes… Some will only have ONE and some will have several. You will need to click on the class you would like to view! We will be looking at the Ringwood Teachers class, created by Mrs. Crawford to show you how to navigate through a Google Classroom with ease!

Click on the class you want… You will see a similar screen. Stream, Classwork and People are the 3 tabs. Click to move to different pages The 3 lines is a short cut back to all the classes and a settings gear. Upcoming lists upcoming events or assignments. The Stream is similar to Facebook. The teacher & students can make posts or respond with comments.

CLASSWORK tab Due Dates Dark Gray = Not Finished Light Gray = Turned In Looks like I have work to do!

You can click on any assignment to gather more information. Assigned, Due, Turned In or Missing. You can also look at the assignment, it’s details and extra resources. Click here to view details.

When you are IN an assignment… you will see this box. It will prompt the student to Turn-in or Mark as Done. This is a VIP step!!! You can also add comment or notes.

How do the join a Virtual Meeting? Click EITHER one… Then Click JOIN the Meet!!! Be sure to accept to use the mic and camera!!! Places to Click You may also receive an email with the link. Or your teacher may post a ZOOM link in the stream or assignments. I will ALWAYS use Google Meets as shown.

Shhhhh!! Push the microphone button to mute. Please Remember everyone can hear everything in the background if the computer is not muted. Dishes, toilets, paper, animals, siblings and even your commentary from the kitchen. Help your student remember this as well…. MUTE is their BFF!!! Students can chat with each other or ask the teacher questions here. <--to the left is a menu pulled up from the 3 dots below. Students should NOT PLAY HERE!!! They can use some tools to improve their screen but not play.

Also, remember everyone is WATCHING!!! We all see the background. Sometime we teachers require the camera on (so we can make sure the student is still there and paying attention). However, sometimes we let them turn if off… increases speed and betters connection. That control is below.

Think Central We use Think Central for English Language Arts. Students have been taking their weekly tests online. How do you access this at home? Let me show you! https: //www-k 6. thinkcentral. com/e. PC/login. do Make sure you look at the state, district, and school before logging in. It should look like the example on screen. I also suggest clicking the remember my school button. Each student has their own username and password. The know have this already. If you need help email me and I will be glad to help!

Once the student has logged in they will see the following page. Under things to do, students will find their work on the platform. In my library, they will find an online version of their book plus extra tools to enhance learning.

For Social Studies we use Ed our Friend in Education. Again, make sure that the correct State and District are selected before trying to log in!

When students log in they will mainly be working under their discover tab. The students also have the log in information for this.
