Welcome to Miss Klos’s Third Grade Class 2017 -2018
All About Mrs. Klos… Hello! My name is Mrs. Klos, and I am so excited to be your child's 3 rd grade teacher this year. I would like to introduce myself, and express just how excited I am to be working with your child this year. My name is Danielle Klos. My husband, Drew and I, live in Fenton, MO with our kids Mason (a 3 year old boy), and Emma (a 4 month old baby girl), my step-daughter Rileigh (12 years old), and our cat, Johnny. I obtained my Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Missouri Baptist University in 2012 and this will be my 4 th year teaching 3 rd grade at Mc. Kelvey. I love teaching and love spending my days watching children grow into readers, mathematicians, and good friends. We are going to do so many fun things and I look forward to a great year! • 2 2

Homework is of vital importance as it reinforces skills and concepts taught in the classroom, helps the students develop a strong work ethic, and sense of responsibility for learning. Students will have approximately 30 minutes of homework each night. The following procedures will be followed for homework in our classroom: -Students will be expected to record their assignments in their assignment notebook in order to help them accomplish their tasks everyday. The assignment notebook will need to be signed by a parent every night. -All homework is expected to be completed on time, to the best of the students’ ability, and in neat writing. -One of the goals of homework (especially long term assignments) is to help the students learn to prioritize their time. 4
Homework Continued. . . • Monday and Wednesday: Students will be expected to read their “just right” book for 20 minutes and they will eventually complete a notebook entry (example in packet). Also, students will have grammar homework, or DOL (Daily Oral Language) to complete. • Tuesday and Thursday: Students will be expected to complete math homework, which is typically a sheet from their work book. 5
Homework Accountability • All students will be held accountable for the completion of their homework assignments. • Students who do not complete their assignments will go to Homework Club during recess. • Students are allowed to work on their homework as I am walking around the room to check their assignment notebooks. 6
Absent From School • When your child is absent from school, please call the front office. • Only if a student is absent multiple days is it necessary for a parent to pick up work- I would rather the child rest and return to school as soon as they can! *In the event of an emergency or change in your child's dismissal plans, please email or call me before 2: 30. If you have not received a reply from me by 2: 30 please follow up with a phone call to the office to ensure your child gets home safely. We ask that changes to transportation after 2: 30 are not made unless it is an absolute emergency. 7
