Ms. Hernandez Hi Everyone! My name is Melissa Reyes and this will be my second year as an assistant for Kindergarten at MBA. ü Beside working at school, I love making art, crafting and spending time at the beach with my family! I’m an animal lover, I have a cat, a dog, a tortoise, a bunny, a hedgehog and a little fish; in other words a little zoo! ü As a mom myself I understand this school year can have many challenges but I’m here to help you and your child with questions and assistance. Zoom class First week of Kinder August 24 -28 from 8: 30 AM to 11 AM ***This week will be our orientation week where I will have a chance to get to know the students and make sure everyone knows how to properly use colegia. • • First day of school is Monday August 24, 2020 Login to Colegia. org & enter my ZOOM sessions by 8: 30 AM everyday Back to school parade Monday August 24, 2020 2 pm- 3 pm. Please send me an email to schedule a pickup date if you cannot make it to the parade to pick up school materials. If you would like to please decorate your cars and write Ms. Hernandez’s Explorers.

Zoom class Kinder Explorers SCHEDULE

Attendance • School will begin at 8: 30 am everyday. • Students must be present for both sessions in order to be marked present for the day. • I will take attendance within the first and last 10 minutes of each class. Students are to be on time and logged on to the class the entire session. • Absences: If students are unable to log in due to an excused reason, please let the teachers know.

Attendance Tuesday and Thursdays • Shorter instructional days. • Students will log on by 8: 30 am for morning attendance and then be given their science or social studies lesson for the day. • Once students log off they will use the rest of the school day as extra time to work on independent classwork via Google classroom and i. Ready.

• Students must wear a uniform shirt while on Zoom. • We will have pajama days every now and then!

• Headphones will be required for every session. (I recommend the ones that go over the head) • Camera’s must be kept on throughout the duration of our Zoom class. For security reasons, students will be removed from the class if we cannot see them. • Students must be sitting at a desk or table. Students laying on the floor or bed while attending our 1 -hour sessions will be removed and not allowed back into the course. Will result in a ZERO for the day. • Eating must be done before or after the virtual class. • Foul language is prohibited. • Please do not unmute yourselves. • Be on time to class.

Zoom class • Distractions ü Students are to be focused and in front of the camera the entire class. If parents are in the room please limit your conversation with them. Students are expected to be as independent as they would be when dropped off at school. ü We also ask that parents stay off the screen as much as possible. ü If parents make an appearance on the screen please be properly clothed and presentable.

i-Ready • Diagnostic testing will be done throughout the next weeks. • Students will be required to have a minimum of 1 hour her subject per week. • Please do not help your child with the lessons. • i-ready is programmed to go at your child’s academic level. If you give them the answers, the questions will get tougher and tougher. • We encourage students to take an educational guess. • These lessons will be checked daily. Do not have your child complete 2 hours of i-ready at once please.
