UNIVERSITY OF LONDON n n n The University of London is a federal University and is among the oldest, largest and most diverse universities in the UK. Established by Royal Charter in 1836, the University is recognised globally as a world leader in Higher Education. It consists of 20 selfgoverning Colleges of outstanding reputation, together with the prestigious School of Advanced Study and a number of other central academic activities. Student population The University of London has a student population of 125, 000 with a further 34, 000 students studying by distance learning on the University's External Programme.

Royal Albert Hall n n The Royal Albert Hall of Arts and Sciences is an arts venue dedicated to Queen Victoria’s husband consort, Priince Albert. It is situated in London’s royal borough of Westminster, within the area also known as Albertopolis.

VICTORIA AND ALBERT MUSEUM n The museum is famous for its magnificent collection of fine and applied arts, ceramics, metalworks, and the selection of John Constable’s masterpieces.

VICTORIA MEMORIAL n n Victoria Memorial was founded at the beginning of XX century in memory of the Queen Victoria I who reigned almost one century! It stands in front of the Vicandal and symbolizes honor, greatness and virginity of the British nation.

St. PAUL CATHEDRAL n n St. Paul’s Cathedral is one of the most magnificent buildings of the XVIII century. It was built in the English barocco style by the famous architect Christopher Wren

WESTMINSTER ABBEY /WEST DOOR/ Westminster Abbey is one of London's oldest and most important buildings.

TOWER BRIDGE n n The Tower bridge is one of the twelve London bridges. It has a two-storied structure. The Tower Bridge links The Tower of London from one bank and Tooley street from the other bank of the River bank. Up to 2000 this bridge was the only one in London, which had a unite only-for-pedestrians directory (the upper stage). In 2000 The Millennium bridge became the first one in London for the pedestrian use only.

TOWER OF LONDON n n n The London Tower is the oldest building of the city. It was built in 1066 by William the Conquerer – the Norman king who invaded Britain in the XI century It used to be the palace, prison, museum and the Queen’s treasury.

NATIONAL GALLERY n Like the Louvre in Paris, the Metropolitan Museum in New York, the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow or San. Suisse nearby Berlin, the National Gallery is the central museum of art masterpieces of Great Britain.

HYDE PARK n n n Hyde Park is one of the most favorite places of Londoners. It is “The main lung” of the city and its largest park. There are many places to see here, e. g. Speakers’ corner, Marble Arch, Rotten Row and the Serpentine Hyde Park in particular is also popular for sports and sometimes hosts open-air concerts. Hyde Park used to be the royal hunting forest

STATUE OF WINSTON CHURCHILL n Statue of Sir Winston Churchill stands just nearby the front door of the Foreign Office of Great Britain and reminds the foreigners of the outstanding political position of G. B. symbolized by this statesman

TRAFALGAR SQUARE n n It was named in memory of the victory in the battle of Trafalgar – where, on October 21, 1805 the English fleet defeated the combined fleet of France and Spain There is a monument of admiral Nelson, the commander of the British fleet, in the middle of the square
