First Day Of School Reminders • • • Please have all forms completed and returned the second day of class Please send a wallet size photo of your child for the name wall in our classroom Send back communication folder each day If your child’s pick up arrangement changes, please be sure to send a note Students may bring a snack and drink each day

Reading Curriculum • Our reading curriculum contains many great resources that are woven together to help students succeed in reading. • We will be utilizing the Wonder reading series for stories, vocabulary, letter sounds and exposure, language arts and comprehension. • We will be using the Fundations series for letter sounds, word building and overall phonics. • We will be incorporating the Heggerty series for phonemic awareness. • The students will also journal using Kid Writing on a daily basis that will unite all the skills together.

Handwriting Curriculum • We will be using Fundations as our handwriting curriculum • Fundations handwriting curriculum promotes the proper formation of upper and lower case letters.

Math Curriculum Our math curriculum consists of Everyday Counts which we use during morning meeting each day. We will focus on skills such as patterning, calendar and number sequence to practice addition and subtraction on a daily basis. Everyday Mathematics also consists of a daily 30 -40 minute math lesson covering all kindergarten math standards throughout the school year.

Science and Social Studies Curriculum We will be completing a variety of units throughout the year that includes the exploration and discovery of life cycles, flowering plants and pumpkins. Additional units will explore topics and concepts within our reading curriculum.

Please Complete And Return The folder that will be sent home and returned everyday will contain a communication page, papers to be filled out and sent back and paper work to keep at home. Please check and return this folder on a daily basis.
