Aims and Methods The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. There four AIMS OF SCOUTING are: Citizenship, Character, Personal fitness, and Leadership The METHODS OF CUB SCOUTING are: Living the ideals, Belonging to a den, Advancement, Family involvement, Activities, Serving the community, and the Uniform
Benefits of Scouting. . . Scouts have: • • Higher Education Levels Better Leadership Qualities Stronger Values Greater preparation and focus for the challenges of tomorrow and beyond • Are more “Service-Oriented”

How the PACK Runs – A Closer Look • Chartered by Your Chartered Org • The Pack meets once a month at Your Location • Pack leadership meets at least once each month to plan pack activities at Your Location • Dens meet at least twice a month* at a time that is convenient for both leaders and members *in addition to the regular Pack meeting

Leader Training • All Leaders undergo a thorough background check • Leaders complete: – Youth Protection Training (YPT) – Position-Specific Training • Cub Scouting follows and practices “Two-Deep Leadership” approach • All training can be found at my. scouting. org
Den Structure Dens usually contain 6 -8 youth led by one or two adult leaders and are formed as follows: – – – Lion Den (Kindergarten): Name(s) Tiger Den (1 st graders): Name(s) Wolf Den (2 nd graders): Name(s) Bear Den (3 rd graders): Name(s) Webelos Den (4 th graders): Name(s) Arrow of Light Den (5 th graders): Name(s) All den rosters should be finalized by the next Pack meeting and you will be contacted

Volunteer Opportunities • The Pack is run entirely by adult volunteers • We need everyone’s help in order for things to run smoothly throughout the year • Administrative or Program functions • No experience required! • Time spent with your child is precious • Don’t pass on the opportunity to make a difference

Yearly Dues / Fees • To be part of the Scouting program there is a fee of $63. 50 for registration and $12 for Boys’ Life*. Scouts new to the program, there is also a one-time joining fee of $25. *Boys’ Life is optional but highly recommended • For pack ___. The cost is $___ for registration, $___ for Boys’ Life, and $___ for dues, totaling $___ • Other costs are involved to included awards, recognitions, uniform pieces, etc. Most of these costs are offset with the help of a fundraiser, i. e. In Summary… Cub Scouting is a great experience for elementary school-aged kids and their families. A Pack is a well-respected, organizationally strong and financially sound unit. Most importantly – it’s FUN!
