Planning contd. Cllr. Moulding spoke on behalf of the Council at the AVDC Development Control Committee meeting on 4 th November 2010 when the retrospective application for the Gypsy site in Nash Road was refused. The application for 2 additional properties behind 11 The Green has meant that we have had to seek legal advice on the status and ownership of the Village Green – currently costs are approaching £ 1000 Parish Council and Parish Plan representatives are continuing to work closely with AVDC Forward Plans Department as a Pilot Parish in the early stages of preparing the Vale of Aylesbury Plan which will replace the previous Core Strategy in determining development in the Vale to 2031. At our February meeting we agreed the following statement about future developments in the village. “We want to explore with AVDC the issues around development before coming to a conclusion”

BCC Delegated Budget Funding The dropped kerbs have been installed along Little Horwood Road and Spring Lane. However all the installations had to be reworked 2 or 3 times due to the poor initial standard of the work carried out by the contractors. One resident still has an outstanding claim against Bucks CC for repairs to privately owned verges.

Other activities The lovely Oak tree donated by the Terkelsen family and friends was planted on the Village Green on 19 th November. The turnout for this years Litter Pick on Sunday 20 th March was very disappointing. Only 10 volunteers attended meaning that some areas of the village could not be visited. Many thanks to the small band who did come along. The Pub Lunch Club has continued to thrive during the year with regular attendances in the high twenties. Thanks to Kate at The Swan for continuing to provide excellent value for money meals.

Plans and thoughts for the coming year. Replace the Bus shelter at the end of Little Horwood Road. Review the provision of Salt/Grit Bins around the village. Install a 2 nd notice board so that we have space to display information that we receive from other bodies. Continue to support the Horwode Pece Recreation Ground Seek interest in the young people of the village to start up a Parish Youth Council Continue to seek a way to get a footpath from somewhere along Little Horwood Road down to Horwode Pece.

New Parish Council As from May 5 th there will be a new Parish Council. I believe that 6 people have put in nomination papers. There will, therefore, not be an election. We will have one vacancy on the Council. We can co-opt the seventh Councillor.

Thoughts from Jack Smith I READ OVER THE LIST OF GROUPS (AND THEREFORE INDIVIDUALS) THAT WE ARE HELPING WITH OUR PROJECT THIS YEAR AND ACTUALLY FELT A THRILL BECAUSE OF THE WAY THE VILLAGE IS REALLY PARTICIPATING, AND OVER THE YEARS AS THIS BEGINS TO ADD UP, THE NUMBERS OF PROJECTS AND GROUPS WE ARE HELPING IS BECOMING SUBSTANTIAL. THIS IS SOMETHING TANGIBLE, PERSONAL AND IMMEDIATE AS OPPOSED TO THE USUAL CONTRIBUTIONS TO LARGE, IMPERSONAL, AND "ANONYMOUS" ORGANIZATIONS WHERE ONE CAN ONLY HOPE ONE IS DOING SOME GOOD.

Contd. I WANT TO THANK YOU ALL ONCE MORE AND, AGAIN, PLEASE CONVEY MY DEEPEST APPRECIATION TO THE OTHER MEMBERS OF THE PROJECT SELECTION COMMITTEE. AS I HAVE SAID BEFORE THIS IS REALLY FUN FOR ME AND I JUST KNOW WE HAVE TO BE HELPING MANY PEOPLE ENJOY "OUR" VILLAGE MORE AND MORE.
