Welcome to Geometry! Joke of the Day What did the pig say on a hot day? 1. points, lines, planes 2. assignment in edpuzzle. TODAY IS AUG 24
I’m Baking! (bacon)
point ray acute angle line obtuse angle line segment or segment plane
Undefined Term A term that does not have a formal definition, but has an agreement on its meaning. In geometry, there are 3 undefined terms. 1. Point 2. Line 3. Plane Make sure this is what you write down. From these 3 terms, all other geometric vocabulary is defined.
Point or M Line - Determines a location in space. ● M – Straight and extending in both directions *side note: any 2 points make a line Line segment or Segment Plane Ray - point M – Part of a line. - A flat surface extending Line n in all directions. *side note: any 3 points make a plane Plane ABC or Plane P Consists of one endpoint and extending infinitely in the other direction. Side note: it is very important to name a ray correctly. The endpoint MUST be first and then the other point!!!
Opposite Rays 2 rays that share the same end point but go in opposite directions. What do opposite rays make? Congruent identical in form Collinear points on the same line Coplanar points on the same plane Non-collinear points not on the same line Non-coplanar points not on the same plane Postulate – a statement that is accepted without proof. Theorem - a statement that has been proven to be true.
Do you see any points that are collinear? Do you see any points that are coplanar?
