Welcome to English I !! This year will be a year of growth, understanding, and appreciation of English! I know you will enjoy it.

What you will learn - Reading Strategies that will help you to be successful in all classes requiring reading (ie: Social Studies, Science) and help you to increase Standardized Test Scores - Techniques to improve informative and argumentative writing - Comprehension and Appreciation of texts of a variety of both fiction and non-fiction genres
Assignment Info. - Assignments need to be completed on time and turned in when they are due. - If you’re absent when an assignment is due, you should turn it in as soon as you get back to school. - If you’re absent when an assignment is given, you should get it as soon as you get back and complete it in a reasonable period of time (to be discussed with me when I give it to you).

Class Materials A variety of materials will be used in class. We will use the Collections textbook, a variety of district approved novels, reading passages, poetry, etc. All of the materials will be provided for you.
Finally Remember that it is my job to help you to learn! Feel free to ask questions, let me know if you don’t understand something, and participate in class. If you stay focused and attentive, you will do a great job. I know that you will be successful if we work together to reach our goals!
