Welcome to Eisenhower Middle School! New and prospective students to USD 383

About Eisenhower Middle School is one of two middle schools in USD 383 for 7 th and 8 th grade students. EMS is located at 800 Walters Drive and has an enrollment of around 470 students.

Middle School Concept O Students at EMS are divided into teams: Silver 7 and Green 7 for 7 th Grade. Silver 8 and Green 8 for 8 th Grade O 4 core teachers (math, science, language arts and social studies) make up a team. O 4 core classes for each team are located together in one hallway O All students within each team have lockers located directly around core classes.

Required Classes O All students in both 7 th and 8 th grade are enrolled in: -Social Studies -Science -Language Arts -Math -PE (3 quarters) -Health (1 quarter) Teams are assigned at random and the above classes are offered on both Green and Silver teams at each grade level.

Elective Classes at EMS O Most elective classes are 9 weeks long (one quarter). O Most elective classes can only be taken one time in a student’s career at EMS. O Some classes that may be repeated: -Choir -Band -Orchestra -Technology (up to 6 times)

More on Schedules O EMS School Day: 7: 42 -2: 40 p. m. O 7 class periods each day O 8 th hour with one of the teachers on your team O O each day. Each student has 4 core classes, PE or Health and 2 elective classes each quarter. Core classes are year long and do not change. There are 4 quarters in a year at EMS. Reading, Math Lab, Guided Study Hall or Learning Strategies are Assigned Classes that may be added to a student’s schedule in place of an elective as needed.

First Things First: O Call ahead to ensure your new address is in the EMS attendance area before arriving to enroll. O Bring a copy of your new student’s shot records, transcripts and transfer grades from previous school. O Call the EMS Counseling Office with any questions!
