• Theme Song on Family was composed by Fr. Alphonse Aind, SJ – it was sung by the. . . trainees. It was well appreciated by all. Few highlights of the talk: Marriage Preparation - Increasing the involvement of lay people. • Annulment/Divorce & Irregular Marriages – Offering counseling/reconciliation to those who seek divorce. Appointing judicial vicars to assist in timely handling of the annulment process. • Emphasized on the Pastoral Care and the more emerging challenges of the families.

Questions for the Group Discussion 1. What are the major concerns our families are facing today? 2. How far are we the consecrated people aware of the problems the families face and what is our response? 3. “Today’s youth, tomorrow’s families, ” how are we equipping them? 4. How can we be a catalyst in positively influencing the Non. Christian families? 5. How do I value family life? When problems arise in the families do I suggest the easy solutions of the world or do I have a different set of values? 6. We as consecrated people expect families to keep the values intact but how far do we live our commitment?

52 points were brought after the group discussion. a copy of consolidated points were provided/ circulated to all the participants to carry it to the respective dioceses and implement according to the need of the people there.

Planning Meeting • The consensus was made that all the units will send the planning for the Jubilee year of Mercy by mid June 2016 to the Regional Secretary to be sent to the National CRI. • During the meeting Sr. Lalita reported that data in hard copy (xeroxed) of missing girls from Jharkhand had been handed over to the Special Inspector David Sunil K. Minj to be submitted to Ms. Sampat Meena, IG. Only one organization from Asha Women’s Development Centre, Majhatoli had submitted the data to the Secretary,

CRI Regional Secretaries’ Meeting • Date: 5 th & 6 th March 2016 • Venue: Dharmaram Vidya Kshetram, Bangalore • Out of 14 regions only 11 Regional Secretaries were present including Fr. Ignatius Tete, SJ the Resource person for JHAAN Region.

Points received • • • CRI should organize issue based program. During Natural calamities/disasters Karnataka region collected 7 lacs for Nepal, 5 lacs for Chennai) so many students volunteered. National CRI can support to the needy Cong. To study at Mater Dei Goa. Govt. is not issuing 12 certificate to few R. Cong. Karnataka CRI magazine is published twice a year. It includes plans and programs of Regional CRI. • Big number of religious does not use their voting right. How can we make 100% voting system • Visit the units, find the issues they are facing • To make good use of infrastructure • Inter religious reconciliation. • To organize seminar for senior religious.

• all the 11 Regional CRI Secretaries attended the Concluding Ceremony of the year of Consecrated Life at St. John’s Hospital, Bangalore, organized by CBCI. There were 168 Bishops. • JHAAN Major Superiors & Bishops Meeting was held on 29 th July 2016 at SDC, Ranchi where urgent matters concerning Tribal welfare were discussed.

• Informed members of the Buddhijeevi Manch have taken legal recourse to challenge some of those attempts, even up to the Supreme Court. • There was unanimous agreement among the participants that each Diocese and Religious Province of JHAAN would make an initial contribution of INR 50, 000. 00 by the end of July 2016. •

• The next phase of contributions will be from the people of our Parishes and other interested groups. • It was agreed that the contributions will be made under ‘legal expenses’. Receipts for the same will be provided either by the Buddhi Jeevi Manch or the Diocese of Khunti, who will channel the funds when necessary.

• An emergency meeting was called of the Regional Executive Committee members of CRI-JHAAN on 15 September 2016 at St. Anne’s Mother House, Ranchi. • Members Present: • Fr. Main points discussed in the emergency meeting: • Due to the inability of several Major Superiors to attend the re-scheduled Joint Meeting on 6 -7 October, 2016 at St. Anne’s Generalate, Loadih, Samlong, Ranchi. • The ‘Official’ CRI-JHAAN Sectional Meeting will not take place at that meeting. However, those who are able to attend are encouraged to do so.

Emergency Meeting • Two alternative dates were proposed for the CRI-JHAAN Sectional Meeting 2016: • 26 November OR 10 December, 2016. Venue will be Arrupe Nivas (Jesuit Provincialate), Hazaribag. The Major Superiors, Rexco and Lexco members were requested to choose one of the two dates at the earliest and inform the Secretary of CRI-JHAAN at the earliest. Whichever date gets majority support will be chosen and intimated.

Emergency Meeting • The President, Fr. Francis Kurien SJ, will communicate with Bishop Biany Kandulna with the request that a report be presented at the Joint Meeting regarding funds received and disbursed for legal expenses. • The President will also request Fr. Joseph Marianus Kujur SJ, Jesuit Provincial of Ranchi, to help with improving the draft of the Trust Deed for CRI-JHAAN, which was under preparation.

Emergency Meeting • A request will be presented at the Joint Meeting in October 2016 on behalf of CRI-JHAAN, to revert to the earlier practice (As BIJHAAN days) of having the Joint Meeting every year during the week following the Feast of Christ the King. This was in view of the severe inconveniences faced mainly by the Major Superiors. • A CRI-SEC meeting had been scheduled in Delhi on 15 -16 October 2016. The Regional Secretary and 5 Social Workers of the Region, who have already attended such meetings, were expected to participate in that meeting. Sr. Lalita will contact Social Workers of the Region and send the list of participants from JHAAN Region to Sr. Reetha CCV, the Coordinaor of the meeting.

Emergency Meeting • The new CRI-JHAAN website, www. cri. jhaan. org, will be inaugurated during the ‘official’ Sectional meeting of CRIJHAAN. Sr. Lalita will give the website address to all Major Superiors and LEXCO Members of JHAAN. They were invited to offer their suggestions and corrections, if any, for the improvement of the website.

Joint Meeting 6 & 7 Oct. 2016 (RBC, CRI & CDPI) • The annual joint meeting of the JHAAN Regional Bishops Council (RBC), the Conference of the Religious of India (CRI) and the conference of the Diocesan Priests of India (CDPI) took place in October 6 -7, 2016 at St. Anne’s Generalate, Loadih, Ranchi. • There were 27 participants including the Cardinal, Bishops, Major Superiors and CRI, CDPI executive members. • The theme of the meeting was ‘The Government Policies and the Response of the Church’.

Joint Meeting • Input session by Mr. Victor Malto. • on ‘CNT Act, SPT Act, Pesa-PPesa, Domicile Policy- Constitutional Rights, their Violations and implications’. • Input session by Bishop Vincent Barwa on ‘Tribal Advisory Council (TAC), The Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA).

• Input session by Bishop Binay Kandulna: on ‘Expected Church’s Collective Response’ • The participants unanimously agreed to say the prayer for adivasisi vkfnokfl; ksa ds fy; s izk. Fk. Zuk in all our parishes. Bishop Felix requested Bishop Vincent Barwa to send the copies of prayer to all the diocese. • It was suggested by the participants to have a fixed date for the joint meeting every year as to make it convenient for everyone.

NATIONAL CRI-SEC SEMINAR • Participated By Sr, Lalita Roshni Lakra, DSA & Sr. Olivia Fernandes, SCB • Day 1 [15 th Oct 2016] • The sessions were taken by Mrs. Shabhnam Hashmi the founder of ANHAD [Alliance for National Harmony and Democracy]. Her topic was on ‘Threat to Democracy and constitutional rights’.

National CRI-SEC Seminar • The second session of Mr. Oais Khan He spoke on the topic ‘networking and social movements’. • One session was jointly taken by Srs. Sneha PBVM and Asha Paul. Both are lawyers. Their topic was Constitutional rights of women and Domestic Violence [DV]. • Fr. Joe Mannath, SDB spoke on ‘Christian spirituality and justice’ & ‘Holistic approach to life and mission’ by Mrs. Nirmala Prabhakaran.

National CRI-SEC Seminar • Bro. Mani Mekkunnel, SG spoke on ‘the Millennium Developmental Goals [ MDGs] and Sustainable Development Goals [SDG]’ Strategically Plan/Action Plan. To Send the CRI-SEC Meeting report to all the Major Superiors. • To Update the data of Social Workers within six month and identify Social Service Centres and Societies • CRI-SEC will establish National and Regional Executive Body • CRI-SEC programme Coordinator will visit all the region within a year and make Regional Committees of CRISEC.

National CRI-SEC Seminar • Regional CRI-SEC will meet twice in a year and will discuss/analyze the social issues. • Regional Coordinators Meeting will be organized once in a year at the Centre/Delhi • To publish a newsletter of CRI-SEC to showcase the social activities of the Religious.

• Registration of CRI-JHAAN as Trust • resolution was passed to accept text of the trust deed as presented, with the required modifications (name of trustees, date of execution, etc, ) • Financial statement of CRI-JHAAN was presented by the Treasurer. • Reports were presented from Local Units, with emphasis on activities of the Year of Mercy & financial status according to the format given.

For finalizing the Trust Deed a committee has been formed with legal experts and it is on the process. Two meetings of Major Superiors of JHAAN have been organized on the current issue – amendments of CNT (Chonagpur Tenancy Act) & SPT (Santhal Pargana Tenancy Act) Acts

Action Plan Response of Major Superiors to the threat of FCRA cancellation of NGOs on 15. 12. 2016 As it was published in the two leading newspapers of Jharkhand v A memorandum was submitted to Mr. N. N. Pandey, IAS Secretary, Home Dept. Kharkhand by all Churches Committee Ranchi Delegation. v 73 NGOs run by religious or different Churches supported this.
