Class rules / Charter In Class 3 we try hard to follow our golden rules in line with the school policy: Our Golden Rules • • Be safe, protect each other. Do be gentle, don’t hurt anyone. Do be kind and helpful, don’t hurt people’s feelings. Do look after property, don’t waste or damage things. Do listen to people, don’t interrupt. Do be honest, don’t cover up the truth. Do work hard, don’t waste time.

Times table screener • Every Year 4 child will complete across the country. • Completed online to assess multiplication facts with 25 questions. There will be a question asked and then 6 seconds thinking time before the next question. • Around June/ July (dates TBC).

Homework Reading for at least 10 minutes each night. Spellings – given in a folder on Friday but also available on Spelling Frame – games linked to your spelling and key words. Please try to log-on regularly. These will be assessed each Friday with scores returned on Monday. Homework – Given out each week – will be making use of digital platforms along with paper copy. This is to help us trial and ensure all children can access these – any problems, please speak to me about this. This will be set each Friday and you have until the following Friday to complete it. Times tables – given in folders on Friday and will be assessed on Thursday. Times Table Rock Stars is a great way to practise these skills. Please try to log-on regularly. We will start times tables shortly after further assessments.
Importance of reading daily… • Access to increased vocabulary – helps writing. • Visual recognition of words – proofreading own writing, editing work, spelling words. • Develop understanding and comprehension of texts. • Increased stamina when reading independently • Maths – Being able to independently read word problems. • Reading diaries – we have new reading diaries – we will use a page each week. Please sign when you read with your child otherwise we will follow this up. Teachers and support staff will sign in pink each week so you can see clearly when your child has read with an adult.
