PRINCIPAL ROY MATHEWS TRANSPORTATION • STUDENTS: After you are dropped off by the buses, parents, or other rides common areas in the morning will be the following: Cafeteria, Hallways –CTAE and BUS Hall, Perimeters of Student Parking Lot, Patio in Front of Lunch Room, Media Center, and Gymnasium. Also Band, JROTC, and Chorus students are usually permitted to those designated areas. • PARENTS: In the drop off lane, please park as far down sidewalk as possible-preferably same spot for child’s benefit. Please do not block the “THRU TRAFFIC LANE waiting for a pickup.
CLASSES AND NAVIGATING THE BUILDING • Avoid atrium entrance as much as possible. Use various stairways. Most congested area is Social Studies wing. If you have a Math class following a Social Studies class, go up stairway on Social Studies Hallway. If you have a Math Class on 2 nd Floor, take any other stairway except Math to come down because it leads back to the Social Studies area –the most congested hallway. • Elevators are designed for students with medical needs warranting use. All other uses will be prohibited. If there are special needs, the nurse will assign you an elevator pass. • If 2 nd digit in Classroom number is 1, classes are on lower level. If 2 nd digit in classroom number is 2, classes are on 2 nd floor.
ATTENDANCE, ADVISEMENT AND DISMISSAL • In the event of an absence, parents should contact the attendance office. Students will be held to the attendance policy. Students need to be in the classroom as much as possible. Please try to arrange dental, medical, and doctor’s visits accordingly. • Students may arrive at Bainbridge High School as early as 7: 00 AM. The bell to release students to 1 st Block will ring at 7: 37 AM and students will be marked tardy at 7: 45 AM. • In the event of a tardy, student will need to go through the attendance office to receive a tardy slip before being admitted to the class at the beginning of the school day. • The purpose of advisement is to familiarize students with policies, guidelines, expectations, clubs, build a sense of rapport, and to insure all students are known on campus and feel comfortable with at least one adult in the event the students need assistance.
LUNCH • There are four (4) lunch lines. A water fountain and restrooms are located in cafeteria area. • All student lunches will be free for the next four (4) years. PARENTS • Crucial that parents are linked to their child’s learning. Involvement opportunities include parent workshops. Parental input is solicited during school improvement planning. • Information Sheets need to be completed in a timely fashion. Please provide us with cell phone numbers and possible email addresses. If you change numbers or addresses, please contact our guidance or attendance office to have your information update. This will help us keep you parents informed. • Utilize our website. Pertinent information is there for students and parents. Lunch menus, upcoming events, important dates, special recognitions, etc. Stay in tuned with BHS.
DEVICES • Devices may be used during the following noninstructional times: during lunch, between classes, before and after school including extracurricular events. When students enter the classroom and during the entire instructional period, cell phones must be out of sight and silenced unless the teacher has expressly permitted the use. This includes the use of these devices in the hallway during instructional periods. Failure to comply with the request or directive from a teacher/staff member to mute and/or conceal cell phone or other electronic device is considered insubordination and will be addressed. • Over-the-ear headphones and Bluetooth speakers are prohibited. Ear buds may be used during the following non-instructional times: during lunch, before and after school including extracurricular events. When students enter and leave the classroom and during the entire instructional period, ear buds must be out of sight unless the teacher has expressly permitted the use. This includes the use of ear buds in the hallway during instructional periods. Failure to comply with the request or directive from a teacher/staff member to mute, remove, and/or conceal these items is considered insubordination. They will be confiscated until parent retrieval.

SCHEDULING FRESHMEN WILL NEED: • 9 th Grade Literature/Composition** • Foundations of Algebra OR Algebra I** • World History • Concepts of Physics OR Physical Science** • Personal Fitness/Health • Intro to Business Tech (Keyboarding) • AND 2 other Elective classes **EOC = End of Course Test EOC’s are worth 20% of overall course grade Not all classes are EOC courses. Others will have a final exam instead. The final is also worth 20% of the overall grade in the class. Just a reminder that schedule changes will ONLY be made to correct mistakes, not because students want to change.
EARNING CREDITS Students must PASS the course to earn the credit. If the student fails the course, he/she may retake the course if available during summer school or after school. How many credits do I need to be promoted to the 10 th Grade? ANSWER: SIX (6) OR MORE

COLLEGE CREDENTIALS • To enter or transfer into a University System of Georgia Institution or other post secondary institution, students must…. • Take two (2) of the same Modern Foreign Language courses (ex. Spanish I & Spanish II) • However, many out of state schools prefer three (3) of the same MFL courses. • The Technical College System of Georgia does NOT require Modern Foreign Language credits for admission.
