Line Identification Thick Line Used to draw the main body of a part Thin Line Used to draw cross hatching Hidden Line Used to draw lines that cannot be seen in the current view
Line Identification Centre Line Used to identify the CENTRE of a shape Dimension Line 2 -1/2” Used to determine the size of a part Cutting Plane Used to identify a cross-section cut away
Line Identification Long-Break Line Used to represent a line is longer than shown Phantom Line Used to show alternate positions that a part can move to
Free Hand Sketching • Some Key Points to remember when free hand sketching: • Do not hold the pencil too tight • Do not PUSH the pencil – “trail” it along • Try and maintain even pressure
Free Hand Sketching • Some Key Points to remember when free hand sketching: • Turn page to accommodate your natural range of motion • Look just ahead of the pencil in the direction of where you want the line to go
