Welcome to BAF 3 M accounting Mr Alexander
Welcome!! to BAF 3 M “accounting” Mr. Alexander
• • • This class should be a community where you feel safe, supported, and respected by others.
• You will be successful in this class……. .
What is success? • You. . becoming a more responsible person. • You…being a respectful person. • You…. becoming a smarter and more articulate person.
to achieve this…. • You must take responsibility for your own learning; How do I do that?
• I must attend classes regularly… and on time.
• Attendance: Better attendance equals better marks…. Guaranteed!
• I must not disrupt the learning of others!
• If I choose inappropriate behaviour… I choose to serve the consequences.
• I must work to the best of my ability for the duration of the period. (Don’t give up just because you don’t understand something…. !)
Mr. Alexander!
• Class lectures will be posted online. (Summary notes given in class only. ) • Homework will be posted online.
• I must do my homework!
• There are very few reasons not to have your homework complete. • Sports, sleeping in, visiting your Grandma, going to a Hedley concert, being too busy, or going deer hunting will not get you excused from doing your homework.
… the consequences …. First missed homework: . 5% 2 nd 1% 3 rd 2% 4 th 4% 5 th 8% 6 th 16% 7 th 32% 8 th … see ya next year. .
Also….
Please bring water to class. It is good for you.
• If you smoke, but would like to quit… call the health unit at 1 -877 -837 -6143 • They will help you.
• In our classroom we have a lot of expensive (and also inexpensive) equipment…. If you break it… you buy it!
• Don’t come to school drunk! • Don’t come to school high! • If you find this is happening often… you probably should talk to someone!
• Fire Drills: We will meet…. . • Tornado Drills: ……… • For both of these, even the real thing, don’t freak out – that leads to chaos and injury… so remain calm.
Act professionally….
• Please do not wear your hats while in the classroom.
• Fake moustaches? . . encouraged.
Computer Use • Use computers and the internet ‘appropriately’ • If something inappropriate appears, exit. • Don’t use facebook, twitter, pinterest, or other sites that curb your productiveness. (Unless asked to do so. . )
Language • Recognize the difference between personal and professional language. Don’t Swear! (Find other words…) Don’t Shout! Don’t talk when others are talking! (Especially when I am lecturing… I will find it extraordinarily unprofessional. )
Electronic Devices • Use ‘em. Lose ‘em.
With those things said…. You will do a lot of work
You will practice being a professional
You will have a set of skills that a lot of others do not
You will be successful
Welcome to accounting!
