AR: Helpful Hints �Quizzes may NOT be taken at home. �Set up an email alert on AR Home Connect. �AR Diagnostics will be taken at the beginning of each quarter to assess student progress. �ASK YOUR CHILD…Have you taken an AR Quiz lately? How did you do? �Students should be taking quizzes every 2 -3 weeks. �Students should be reading 3 -4 books a Qtr.
Important Reading Statistics �Out-of-school reading habits of students have shown that 15 minutes a day of independent reading exposes students to more than 1, 000 words of text in a year. �Literate high school graduates need to know about 60, 000 words; therefore, students need to learn an average of 12 new words a day. �Better readers read more. By 5 th grade, good readers read an estimated 10 times an many words a day as poor readers. �BOTTOM LINE: encourage your student to READ
