Welcome to Back to School Night Kindergarten 2017 - 2018 Kindergarten Goal: Happy, Healthy, and Engaged Learners

Kindergarten Expectations We will learn and grow in many ways this year in kindergarten. We will begin by focusing on: • Independently manage personal belongings (lunch box, backpack, folder: packing & emptying) • Demonstrates active listening skills • Draws and labels a detailed picture • Uses correct pencil grasp • Recognizes letters • Recognizes name (in a group of names) • Writes name, numerals, and letters correctly • Identifies numerals 0 -10 • Orally counts to 20 (or higher) without skipping any numbers; our End of Year goal is 100
Grades for Kindergarten students receive 2 progress reports this year • January (first progress report) • June (second progress report)
Important Kindergarten Dates 2015 -2016 School Year § November 21 – Thanksgiving Feast § December 8 – Parent-Teacher Conferences § December 12 – Camp Woodlands Field Trip ***Many volunteers needed for this trip § December 22 – Gingerbread Day § March 2 – Parent-Teacher Conferences § May (date TBD) – Field Trip: Maryland Zoo in Baltimore § May 21 & 22 – Spring Conferences § ***For Kindergarten and Pre-k only § June 15 (or last day of school) – Class Picnic In order to volunteer as a chaperone or for school-based events you must complete a background check.
