What is Orchestra? n The String Family – Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass – Harp (limited to one student) n Meets everyday. Built into the student’s schedule n Performing Music class (year long)

What do we do? . . . Concerts! Fall Concert (November) n Winter Concert (December) n Solo & Ensemble Contest (March) n Spring Rock Concert (May) n Elementary Tour (May) n Splashtown Music Contest (May) n

Details… n You don’t have to have any experience n Cellos & basses will not carry an instrument to school n Violins & violas will carry back and forth

How much does it cost? n Monthly Instrument Rental – – – Violin & Viola = approx. $20 Cello = approx. $40 Double Bass = No cost (through Humble ISD) n n There a limited number available Supplies = $50 – Music books, music stand, shoulder rest (violin/viola) rock stop (cello/bass) n Uniform = $20 – Navy blue polo shirt n Don’t let money be an issue. We have sponsors.

Don’t buy an Instrument n The Rentals are quality instruments of the right size. n Students grow. – Small instruments ->big instruments n Insurance when you rent – All repairs & strings are free

How much time? n Nightly home practice – 15 to 20 minutes a night n Less than 5 after school rehearsals n Concert dates set in advance to avoid schedule conflicts

So when do we get sized? n April 22 nd, 23 rd or 24 th – Pick one day n 6: 00 pm to 7: 30 pm – Come and go
