Today we will read about ‘A garment worker’s day”
Who works in a Garment worker garment factory. A natural disaster caused River erosion by breaking of river bank. An unexpected Accident incident.
Reshma is a garment worker in Dhaka. She is 18 years old.
Her family came to Dhaka from a village eight years ago.
There was river erosion in their village. They lost their home. So the family came to Dhaka.
Reshma’s father worked as a rickshaw driver, but he died in an accident.
Reshma’s uncle Ratan helped the family. He found a small house for them at Kalyanpur.
Her younger brother Babul goes to school. He’s in class 5.
Her mother stitches “Nakshi kathas” at home and sells them.

Spotting Mistake Game: I’ll ask the students to follow me carefully when I’m reading. If I do any mistake then shout ‘Stop’ and make me correct. I’ll create emotion with my students by saying ‘What! I’ve made a mistake again! Now I’ll be careful. ’ Thus I ensure that students are reading and following me carefully. It will be a whole class work.
Wh Questions: • I’ll divide the students in 5 groups. Give them a sentence card with 3 sentences. Ask them to make 3 WH questions: 1. Reshma is 18 years old. 2. Ratan helped the family. 3. Her mother stitches “Nakshi Kathas” at home. I’ll monitor their group work and help them if needed. Then I’ll cross check their answers.
Hot Potato quiz: I’ll show the hot potato quiz on the projector. The students will read the sentences and the true/false options. They will select a answer and raise their hands for answering. I’ll select one of them to answer it and then show them if the student is right or wrong by clicking on the option. Thus I’ll provide 5 sentences and the students will collect score and the winner will be praised by claps.
Plickers: I’ll set up 5 Multiple Choice Questions and their answer options on my device and provide the plicker cards to the students. I’ll ask them to show the cards according to their answer. They must hold the answer options A/B/C/D on the upsides of their cards. The students will show their answers by using plicker cards. Then I scan the cards with my android phone and show them the reports on projector screen.

Paragraph Writing: Write 5 sentences on a poster paper about a ‘Cleaner Boy’ in your locality by answering the following questions in 5 groups: 1. What is his name? 2. When does he get up? 3. What does he do in the morning? 4. Why does he do it? 5. Do you respect him? Display the poster papers in plenary. Students move in circle around the paper and add their ideas on it.
