Daily 5 The Daily Five is a student-driven management structure designed to fully engage students in reading and writing. The components are: Read to Self Read to Someone Work on Writing Listen to Reading Word Work/ Spelling Choice Small group support

Writing and Text Types Write opinion pieces on topics or texts, supporting a point of view with reasons and information. Write informative/explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas and information clearly. Write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective technique, descriptive details, and clear event sequences. Write routinely over extended time frames (time for research, reflection, and revision) and shorter time frames (a single sitting or a day or two) for a range of disciplinespecific tasks, purposes, and audiences.
