Making Connections Initiative The overarching goal of this initiative is to improve the mental health and wellbeing of men and boys in the United States.
Making Connections Initiative This initiative emphasizes community-level strategies and underscores the importance of mental health and social connection and their link with community wellbeing and resilience.
Making Connections Initiative u Prioritizes those who have a particularly high need for community-level attention to mental wellbeing, such as military/veteran communities/families and boys and men of color and their families. u Through this funding announcement, Prevention Institute and the Movember Foundation are seeking to select up to 10 communities to be part of this initiative.
Making Connections Initiative u Community of Practice u Meet regularly u Share lessons, challenges, successes u Help each other solve problems u Inform tools to advance the field
Making Connections u In Year 1, the selected community sites will go through a strategic planning process with technical assistance provided by Prevention Institute. u Sites that fully participate with technical assistance and develop an actionable prevention plan will be eligible to receive implementation grants for a period of 2 -4 additional years.
How to Apply This is a two-step application process: u. Organizations must submit a Letter of Interest (LOI) by June 12, 2015 u. Based on individual and composite criteria, invitations will be extended to select applicants, who will respond with submission of Proposal Application
How to Apply u Letter u u u of Interest (LOI) due June 12, 2015 Completed Making Connections coversheet No more than 3 pages in length Responds to Funding Announcement u u Brief description of need Brief description of what you want to accomplish Applicant’s capacity to accomplish the work Amount requested
Individual Selection Criteria u Understanding of initiative intent u Selection of appropriate population of focus u Well defined goals, objectives and activities u Willingness and capacity to engage in a planning process, including with appropriate partners u Ability to engage multiple sectors in planning and implementation u Capacity to effectively carry-out the work u Ability to harness community leadership u Willingness to participate in a learning collaborative u Readiness to participate in individual site and collective evaluation
Composite Selection Criteria Among qualified applicants, sites will be selected to assure a diverse group of sites with respect to the following criteria: u Geographic u Population u Stage location of focus of readiness for planning and implementing community-level strategies
