Meet the teacher Mrs. Judith Lopez! This is my 17 th teaching. I graduated in 1999 from The University of El Paso at Texas with a Business Administration degree. Then, I went through the Alternative Certification program. I love spend time with my family. I can’t wait to get to meet your children and help them grow this year.

MEET THE TEACHER, MRS. MARISELA BERUMEN-LOPEZ! This is my 21 st year teaching. I graduated in 2001 from The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). I am part of this community; I live 2 minutes away with my husband of 23 years, my 22 -year-old son and my 17 -yearold daughter. I can’t wait to get to meet your children and help them grow this year.

MEET THE TEACHER MR. VARELA! This is my 15 th year teaching. I graduated in 1985 from UTEP with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work. Prior to teaching I worked for CPS. Once I left CPS, I went through the Teacher's Alternative Certification Program and received my Teaching Certificate. I can’t wait to get to meet your children and help them grow this year.

Meet the Teacher, Mrs. Irene Zapata! This is my 17 th year in education. I graduated in 2003 from UTEP with a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction in Technology from the Grand Canyon University in 2008. I enjoy watching movies while relaxing with my loving husband reading novels. I can’t wait to meet your children virtually and helping them grow this year with online instruction. Looking forward to an amazing year!!

Mental Health Our number one goal this year is to help children be happy and healthy. I know that last spring was a very difficult time for many families. Mental health will come before academics as we start the year. If at any time you have concerns about your child, please do not hesitate to contact me, or our counselors, so we can work together. 3 RD GRADE SCHEDULE

Distance Learning Students in Pre. K & Kinder will receive i. Pads, and 3 rd – 8 th grade students will receive laptops from our district as soon as the district receives the shipment. Our class will utilize Microsoft Teams meetings for distance learning. I will email an invite to your child for each meeting. Please contact me if you are having any technology struggles. I know that it can be difficult for children to stay engaged during virtual meetings. Please minimize distractions in your child’s surroundings. If at any point you see your child struggling to stay on task during meetings, please contact me, and I will work to adjust.

We will use Microsoft Teams to meet virtually. My goal will be to help children learn how to use this platform so they can be more independent during distance learning. (uploaded in DOJO Students will often use Nearpod to complete assignments independently.

Parent/Guardian Pledge I will ask my individual questions to the teacher at a later time. I will ensure that my pets are not a distraction to the learning of my child and others. I will be aware of what is in the background on my child’s screen. Consider having the camera face a wall so that fellow learners are not distracted by the things happening in the background.
