EC Competencies Framework: Domains Child Growth, Development & Learning Family and Community Partnerships Child Observation and Assessments Health, Safety, & Nutrition Guidance Program Planning and Development Professional Development and Leadership Teaching Practices Based on 8 domains with competencies related to social/emotional development, cultural competence and children with special needs are included in all domain areas. Approved by the Early Childhood Leadership Commission in May, 2013. 7

Components of the Early Childhood Professional Credential Points Professional Development Demonstrated Competencies (Points awarded for each year worked in the field ) Points Formal Education Points Experience Points (credential levels 1=lowest through 6=highest –level is based on total points earned) Degrees Areas of Study Course-work (Points awarded for highest degree attained) (Extra points awarded for 6 specific areas of study in degrees earned in the last 25 years) (Points awarded for each 3 credit college course with grade “C” or above in ECE or courses aligned with competencies) (Points awarded for Training Hours/CEUs completed in the last 3 years; extra points awarded courses related to children with high needs, completed as a series, and completed with at least 8 hours of coaching.
