WELCOME! Regional Choice Initiative 2020 -21 Dual Enrollment Program Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit

About the RCI program RCI is beginning its 17 th year of operation Approximately 160 students are participating in RCI this year 2, 750 plus high school students have participated in the RCI program Participating school districts in Erie County: Fairview, Fort Le. Boeuf, Girard, Millcreek, Northwestern, Union City and Wattsburg Participating school districts in Crawford County: Meadville Area HS, Conneaut Area HS, Maplewood HS, PENNCREST HS at the Crawford County Career and Technical Center (CCCTC)
Where are the classes? Skills Center which is next to the Erie County Technical School
Gannon and Mercyhurst classes will be Faceto Face at the skill center. Edinboro has gone primarily on-line. Since most of the students in the College Algebra course will be at the skill center for a Block 1 course, there will be a classroom available for the students to go online for the Math course. This will enable the students to be in the classroom even though the professor will be teaching online. An Edinboro representative will zoom into the skill center on August 11 th and 13 th to assist students with their log in and review the D 2 L learning platform.
RCI and COVID 19 • All universities are requiring masks for students and professors. • You will be responsible to provide your own mask and wear it will attending RCI.
Classroom seating will be set up for social distancing. Please do not move any seats as they have all been measured according to the guidelines.
Classrooms will be cleaned daily. In between classes, students will be asked to wipe down their area with provided sanitizers before they leave.
Program goals and achievements Gradual transition from high school instruction to college instruction and expectations Exposure to the reality of college expectations during high school, while parents and high school staff provide support Increased student independence College grades/credits on college transcripts Discounted college costs
Course selection and faculty The RCI Program is coordinating 24 college classes at the Skills Center Courses are selected to meet college general core content areas and PDE requirements These are the same professors college students have on campus
What is meant by discounted cost? Each local university has committed to significantly discounted tuition rates.
Edinboro University of Pennsylvania RCI Regular tuition = $966 per 3 -credit class plus fees Savings of $666 for 1 class and $1, 332 for 2 classes Gannon University RCI tuition = $300 per 3 -credit class includes fees tuition = $300 per 3 -credit class Regular tuition = $2430 per 3 -credit class plus fees Savings of $2, 130 for 1 class and $4, 260 for 2 classes Mercyhurst University RCI tuition = $300 per class includes fees Regular tuition = $2625 per 3 -credit class plus fees Savings of $2, 745 for 1 class and $5, 490 for 2 classes

Schedule/transportation Classes follow the college calendar, different than high school schedule Transportation – via your home district bus or individual arrangements to drive per your home high school policy
District Transportation Buses will start August 11 th: Fairview Union City Girard Wattsburg Buses that will start when the district school year begins: Mc. Dowell If your school is not listed, please check with your guidance counselor
What about Breaks? Students will follow the University schedule. If your school district is on break but the university is not, you will need to provide your own transportation to the skill center for class. All face-to-face classes will end by Thanksgiving.
What about Cancellations? • District policy: Follow district announcements/watch the local news for updates on snow cancellations. • University policy: classes may continue, students responsibility to communicate with professors
