OUR TODAY’S TOPIC…… Editing and Formatting a Document
Learning Outcomes After completing this lesson, ss will be able to: 1. Explain the idea of editing a document; 2. Explain document format and alignments; 3. Create Bangla documents in words.
Editing Documents: The process that is followed to make a document error free is called ‘editing’. In editing , usually we do the following works: Select a letter, or a word, or a sentence, or a part, (Shift ) Cut; (Ctrl x) Copy; (Ctrl c) Paste; (Ctrl v) Delete (Delete key).
EDITING DOCUMENTS: Select : While editing a document, we need to select a letter, or a word, or a sentence, or a part. To select something, we have to take the cursor just before it and at first press the shift key, then the right arrow (Shift ). Cut : Sometimes we need to move words or pictures from one place to another in a computer document. To perform the action, at first select the words or the pictures, then press Ctrl and X keys together. Copy : If we want to copy something on a computer screen, we have to move it from one area to another. After selecting what we want to move press Ctrl and C together. Paste : After copy or cut function, the next step is paste. To move a piece of text to a particular place in a computer document, take the cursor to that place and press Ctrl and V together.

Editing Documents: Delete : To erase a piece of text or picture, press del/Delete or Backspace key after selecting it. Formatting a document: Formatting: After creating and editing a document, we need to arrange it in such a way that it will look good. It’s called formatting. Increasing and reducing the font size: To increase or reduce the font size either of the partial or of the whole document , select it and then change the numerical figure by the side of font name on the toolbar or ribbon. Select the figure on the basis of what you want to make it, bigger or smaller in size. We can do it by giving commands through keyboard. Formatting a document: Making writing bold, italic and underline: At first we have to select which part we want to change, then taking the pointer on B I U on the toolbar, and clicking the right button of the mouse get the desired effect. Formatting a document: Alignment of a document: The margin alignment of the paragraphs of a document is determined by this command. Usually the paragraph is aligned with left, but the alignments are of four kinds, left, right, centre and justified alignment. To change the alignment of a document, at first select it, then clicking the icons get the desired alignment.
