Professional Education Competence Program PEC • The Professional Education Competence Program is a state requirement for new teachers who hold temporary certificates. - - OCSD did not make this up! • The training is focused on the Florida Educator Accomplished Practices (FEAPS) and the district’s evaluation system. • Your participation in PEC will be on record with the Department of Education.

What are the FEAPS? • • • Florida’s core standards for effective educators Provide guidance on what teachers should know and be able to do Based on three foundational principles: • High Expectations • Knowledge of Subject Matter • Standards of the Profession • The foundational principles are applied through six accomplished practices

FEAP 2 The Learning Environment To maintain a student-centered learning environment that is safe, organized, equitable, flexible, inclusive, and collaborative, the effective educator consistently: a. Organizes, allocates, and manages the resources of time, space, and attention; b. Manages individual and class behaviors through a well-planned management system; c. Conveys high expectations to all students; d. Respects students’ cultural linguistic and family background; e. Models clear, acceptable oral and written communication skills; f. Maintains a climate of openness, inquiry, fairness and support; g. Integrates current information and communication technologies; h. Make up Policy All four sessions along with homework assignment must be completed in the designated time frame in order to receive credit.
Homework Policy Each session will have a homework element. For example, you received a HWK lesson today with a Classroom Observation Reflection. Homework assignments are aligned to something you can use in your classroom! Each Homework assignment is aligned to a FEAP as well as a Domain in the Evaluation System.
Attendance and Assignments must be complete in order to receive credit for the session.
