About Me Studied abroad in Canada and Taiwan. Graduated Magna Cum Laude from Bloomsburg University. Majored in Anthropology with 2 minors (Chinese, Sociology). Lived in Taiwan for 6 years with my fiancé. Taught at Kojen English (Dunhua Nanjing Branch), Happy Marian, and for Taipei Language Institute (TLI). Teacher trainer and curriculum writer for Kojen English. Taught English for SGS, TABF, and Lotte.

Benefits of the Environment Students will have a great deal of opportunity to speak

Benefits of the Environment Students will have a great deal of opportunity to speak English. By sitting in small groups students will engage each other in English in a way that will help them to improve together. Picture association and physical response will help to develop positive language learning habits. A friendly, conversation based class atmosphere will ease the stress students feel engaging a new language.

How do We teach Phonics? Students are encouraged to read and listen to poems

How do We teach Phonics? Students are encouraged to read and listen to poems and promote listening comprehension and spelling in interesting and fun ways. Each lesson is processional (building on each other), and will be followed by activities that will check learner’s comprehension. The class provides an opportunity to practice with sightreading, sound combinations, and word inflection. These skills are important to reach native reading ability. We will create and use additional materials to help reinforce the lesson targets.

How do We teach Speak Kids 2? Students will develop speaking skills through hands-on

How do We teach Speak Kids 2? Students will develop speaking skills through hands-on activities and show-and-tell projects. Games and Activities improve a student’s speaking confidence and gives them a chance to interact with each other in controlled and interesting ways. Extra materials will be used to consolidate lesson topics. Students will be encouraged to test their abilities in class and learn from their mistakes.

Class Assessment Making mistakes during class will not be penalized and is encouraged. The

Class Assessment Making mistakes during class will not be penalized and is encouraged. The Midterm and the Final will each be worth 35% of the final score. Effort and Participation in class will be worth 30% of the score.

How Can Parents Help? Treat English as a source of fun or entertainment and

How Can Parents Help? Treat English as a source of fun or entertainment and students will develop their listening and speaking skills. This can be achieved during leisure time by reading to your child often, encouraging them to notice English letters in their everyday environment, and making English a fun and natural part of life. Encourage students to share what they have learned about in class.
