Math Basics. . . • Math “Workbooks”: Stays in class. Front page focuses on computation. The Back page focuses on application and explanation through word problems. Focus will be on EXPLAINING their thinking and showing their work! Homework page mimics the inclass workbook page. Workbook stays in the classroom • Math Homework - (Mon-Thur) Students will be assigned homework based on their individual understanding of that day’s skill. assigned problems Will vary from student to student. Not to exceed 20 minutes! • Enrichment packet- being sent home on back to school morning to help families that want to extend the learning at home beyond the assigned homework. STEM activities offer challenges during the school day
Additional Math Resources - en. Vision has online resources including a student workbook, games, videos, and printable homework pages - Mrs. Cowan’s website has topic study guides, vocabulary practice, and links to alternate practice websites covering multiple skills
Science (F. O. S. S. Full – Option Science System) Topics Covered: • Scientific Investigation and Reasoning • Matter and Energy • Force, Motion, and Energy • Earth and Space • Organisms and Environments
Science *FOSS textbook are online *Students keep an interactive notebook recording all investigations. They can bring this home to help them study at any time, but it must come back daily *Mrs. Cowan’s Website has links to vocabulary practice, key concepts, and other helpful information *Science notebooks are able to be used to help study for quizzes and tests
th 4 Grade Homework Policies – Students are encouraged to read 20 minutes a night and should limit their math practice to no more than 20 minutes – Per campus policy, when homework is assigned, it should not exceed a maximum of 40 minutes for 4 th grade – Homework may consist of material across all subjects including unfinished class work, en. Vision workbook pages , and studying for tests – Homework is differentiated based on student need
Grades/Makeup Work • Grades are based on a combination of tests, participation, class work, group work, and projects which are weighted differently (Math tests x 2). • Correction policy: Tests and Quizzes can be corrected for half credit back regardless of received grade. Daily assignments are only correctable if a student receives a 70 or below. They may correct this for half credit back up to a n 80. • Makeup Work / Absences – For every day your child is absent, 1 day will be given to complete any and all make-up work.
4 th Grade Behavior • Our classes follows the school’s positive behavior plan and uses R. O. C. K. ’n Rewards to acknowledge students that are: • -Respectful • -Orderly • -Cooperative • -Kind • Pink Slips (Behavior) - sent home to be signed and returned for teachers documentation. • “Excellent Eagles Award” at the end of each day
Snacks & Important Information! • Snack- Lunch is at 1 1: 45. It is important for your child to bring a peanut and tree nut free snack each day! Please refer to the list of easy nut free snacks. We also have fruit allergies so please be mindful of that as well • Sweater/Water bottle – We encourage students to bring a sweater and water bottle to class. We want all students to be comfortable and hydrated! • Allergies: We will coordinate with homeroom mothers to help accommodate for any and allergies in regards to foods at classroom parties
ATTENDANCE ● ● When a student misses school for any reason you must email cceattendance@eanesisd. net to let the attendance clerk know. Any student that arrives to school after 10: 00 AM will be counted absent. UNLESS a Doctor's note is provided. If a student will miss 3 or more days of school an Extended Leave of Absence Form must be completed and turned into the front office. Please email BOTH teachers if your child is going to be absent. we will try our hardest to missed material to you ahead of time or on the same day

TRANSPORTATION ● ● Any transportation changes need to be emailed to the front office by 1: 30 PM. Please email both ababbs@eanesisd. net and both teachers the change Transportation Rule: Eanes ISD has eliminated guest ridership on school buses and eliminated stops to alternate locations for afterschool programs. (The definition of a guest rider is a student who rides a bus other than the one they are assigned. If a student remains on his/her assigned bus but gets off at a different stop along the route, that is allowed because he/she is already accounted on that bus)
Car Pick Up/Drop Off • • • The bus lane opens for cars when ALL the buses have dropped off Say your goodbyes before you get in car line Put all devices away before you get in the car line Only cross at the crosswalk, not through the parking lot Do not go around cars or buses, wait in the car line and move with the traffic • If you need to get out of the driver seat, park. Do not get out of the car in the car line • Be patient especially on rainy days
Smart Tags (Secured Mobility Authorized Ridership Technology) - Campus Dismissal Program allows parents to use the system to communicate dismissal changes - Bus riders will scan upon entering the bus - Smart Alert text messages notify parents when the child is 10 -15 mins as away from his/her bus stop - Used for purchasing lunches and checking out library books - Please keep Smart Tags in students’ backpacks!
VISITORS • Any visitor that comes into the school must enter through the front office to check in. new buzz in system If you plan on volunteering after assembly, please come into the office for a Visitors badge If it is your first time to visit Cedar Creek - you must provide your Driver’s License to be scanned and a badge will be issued ● ●
FORGOTTEN ITEMS ● ● Items such as snack, water bottles, lunches, backpacks, books and homework should be left with the Front Office Staff to be delivered to the classroom we encourage parents to resist the urge to bring up forgotten homework
