Principal’s Welcome Sean J. Goodwin Greetings Everyone, Welcome to Andrew H. Wilson, an Inspire. NOLA Charter School where we are transforming and inspiring and educational movement. Our commitment at Wilson Charter School is to provide each and every student with a safe environment that allows for students to be challenged intellectually as they maximize their potential. We will also empower our students to become innovative problem solvers through critical thinking as we prepare them for the 21 st Century and beyond. The bedrock of our school are the high expectations that we have for all faculty, staff, students and parents as it pertains to academics, extracurricular activities, citizenship and what it takes to be a Wolf. Our faculty, staff, students and parents are expected to hold these high expectations and commit to maintaining and elevating the extraordinary record of achievement here at Wilson. Sandra Parker (Assistant Principal) Being a New Orleans native, product of the public school system and now 20+ year educator, my mission is to make Inspire. NOLA-Wilson a high-quality, learning community for staff and students. At 21 years old, I began my teaching career at John Mc. Donogh HS and went on to serve at varied locations in the states of Louisiana and Georgia. I hold multiple degrees including two post-graduate degrees from Louisiana State University, Xavier University of Louisiana, Our Lady of Holy Cross College (now, University of Holy Cross). Additional travel and studies around the country in best leadership and school practices has equipped me with a lot to contribute to learning in our community. Positions held include: Lead Teacher, Master Teacher, SPED Coordinator, Reading Assessment Coordinator, LEAP Remediation Coordinator, Testing Coordinator, Master Content Specialist, Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction, School Site Director, TAP Director, State TAP Presenter and Principal. Since 2003, I have been a part of turnaround schools and practices, yielding increases, at the • UNO - New Beginnings Pierre Capdau 21 pt. + (inaugural year) • ACSA - Alice Harte - 49 Assessment Index to 69 in first two years. • Mc. Donogh 32 - 19 pts. + (2014) • Eisenhower - 12 pts. + (Leading ACSA schools in 2015) • Inspire. NOLA - Wilson ("F" to "C" in Year 1) I take pride in being a member of this phenomenal leadership team and instructional staff; I am also proud to be the wife of Darryl and mom of two beautiful and bright children who are continuing to excel in academics, music, information systems, theatre and dance. Tamika Duroncelay (Assistant Principal) Mrs. Duroncelay, a native of California has over 19 years of experience and commitment to education. She has lived in New Orleans for 11 years post Katrina and enjoy everything New Orleans. She holds a Master's degree in Reading from Towson University and a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Morgan State University. She is the mother of 2 beautiful boys who play baseball and are academically well rounded. She is the proud wife of St. Augustine Graduate. I enjoy taking pictures, listening to all kinds of music, playing softball and dancing. As the Assistant Principal she currently oversees student achievement and culture at Andrew Wilson Charter school, an Inspire. NOLA K-8 school within the network. In her role as Assistant Principal she supports and manages grades Pre- K through 4, as they implement rigorous academic programming, maintain positive school cultures, and plan for continuous data driven school improvement. Prior to joining Inspire. NOLA, Tamika served in many roles throughout her career to include, classroom teacher in Baltimore and New Orleans inner city schools, Reading Specialist K-12, librarian, professional development leader, softball coach, RTI coordinator, Division Head, K-8 school Assistant Principal, Director of Teaching and Learning K-12, Assistant District Testing Coordinator and as an overall advocate for student achievement and success for all of our students. Daily School Schedule • Daily Arrival • 7: 15 am - Scholars are able to enter the building. Breakfast is served until 7: 30 am. • Scholars are tardy at 7: 45 am. • Buses drop off at entrance on S. Miro St. ; car riders and walkers enter on S. Tonti St. until 7: 35 am. • The N. Tonti gate will be locked at 7: 35 am daily. At this time, students will be directed to enter the front gate (S. Miro). • Bus routes and rosters are going to be posted outside of the main office during the first week of school. Parker
Daily School Schedule cont. • Daily Dismissal • 3: 00 pm scholars are dismissed for the day. • Buses pick up at entrance on S. Miro St. • Parents who have car riders will line cars up on S. Tonti St. with your scholar’s sign posted on your dash (given by staff). • Car riders, please enter S. Tonti from Napoleon Ave. , pick up your scholar and continue on S. Tonti. Parker
Transportation (Bus Information) • Schedules will be out by July 30, 2019 (tentative) • Changes in bus service requires completing a form • 3 day turnaround • Check the website to see bus routes • Batch Geo (link will be on the website) • Come into the school or call after July 30 to check on routes • We assign bus routes based on the address we have in the system. Please be sure that your address is updated. We cannot and will not change bus routes without a change of address in the system Parker

Culture & Discipline Policy ØIf a scholar chooses to break a rule, the following consequences can apply: (Minor infractions) Ø 1 st offense – Verbal warning, phone call home, detention Ø 2 nd offense – Conference with parent Ø 3 rd offense – Saturday School/In-School Ø 4 th offense – Suspension Ø Some consequences may include: Ø Positive time out or thinking time, writing a reflection paper, teacher and/or peer sharing, apology of action, verbal warning, phone call home, note home, “You break it, you fix it”, loss of privilege. Birthday Celebrations We love to celebrate our children especially on their birthdays. We understand that students want to celebrate with their classmates but we do have school protocols … ØLast 30 minutes of the school day ØCupcakes and Ice cream ONLY Ø If you will not attend you can send the items at the beginning of the day and we will begin the celebration at 2: 30 pm ØPlease inform your child’s teacher 1 week in advance via email or note to the school Duroncelay
