MRS. RUTH BAY RD ESOL: 3 GRADE My name is Mrs. Ruth Bay. I have been teaching for more than 20 years now. I am originally from the Philippines; thus, as an immigrant teacher, I advocate for English language learners. I hold a Master’s degree in Educational Management and am currently pursuing my doctorate degree in the same field. As an ESOL teacher, I hold the Advanced Professional Certificate for Kindergarten through 12 th grade. I also conduct ESOL Continuing Professional Development courses for teachers across the county. This year, I am extremely excited to be a part of the Bulldogs Family. For this school year, I hope to finish my National Board Certification for Teachers. I can’t wait to see all my English language learners in my virtual and traditional classroom meetings.
KHRISTAHL BECKETT TH 5 STEM I am Khristahl Beckett! I have dedicated the last 20 years to teaching and learning. Having worked in both public and private schools, I have seen and experienced the positive impact and benefit of educating the whole child. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems Management and a MSA in Educational Administration. I look forward to the new school year at Bladensburg Elementary!
JOYCE CALAMBRO TH TH SPECIAL EDUCATION (CHAIRPERSON) : 4 /6 I am a highly qualified teacher with 30 years of experienced. I had experienced teaching on various levels (1 -8). I have APC certifications in Special Education, General Education 1 -8, and Math 4 -9. I finished my Master’s Degree in Special Education at Bowie State University. I had been teaching at PGCPS since 2006. Prior to teaching at PGCPS, I taught in New York City Public Schools. I had also taught for 10 years in an all- boys school and 5 years in an all-girls school. Teaching is my passion. Teaching gives me fulfillment in life knowing that I made a difference to my students.
DR. SHERRY LASSITER READING SPECIALIST My name is Dr. Sherry Lassiter. I have served in the field of education for 26 years with 25 years in Prince George's County Public Schools. I have taught 1 st through 6 th grades. I taught Reading Recovery for 9 years and have been a Reading/Language Arts Teacher and a Reading Intervention Teacher. I have been a certified Reading Specialist for 19 years and a National Board Certified Teacher in Early-Middle Childhood Literacy: Reading/Language Arts since 2008. I have also taught the Talented and Gifted program for primary students. Read Bulldogs! READ!!!!!
KIMARA MCKOY TH 5 GRADE READING Hi! My name is Kimara Mc. Koy and I am in my 3 rd year of teaching with PGCPS. I grew up on the Eastern Shore and Baltimore. I currently live just outside of Baltimore with my husband son. In my spare time I enjoy reading, baking, and sleeping. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree from Salisbury University and I am pursuing a Master’s Degree in Education from Liberty University. I am an Arts Integration Master Teacher and excited to introduce different art forms to my students. In my classroom environment, I promote a sense of family, growth, and openness. I was inspired by various influences to teach and it has been the best decision I have ever made. I am delighted to be a part of the Bulldog family and I cannot wait to make AMAZING memories together!

ANDREA ROSS PROFESSIONAL SCHOOL COUNSELOR My name is Andrea Ross. Working with children has always been a passion of mine from a very young age. To know that I will have a significant impact on children, be a positive figure in their lives, as well as being a part of the process in helping them turn that light switch on has been something that has always intrigued me. I graduated with my an honorary Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Care and Social Policy in 2014. I went on to earn my Masters of Science in School Counseling with my specification in Crisis and Trauma in August of 2019.
JULIA TASKER SPECIAL EDUCATION: 3 RD/5 TH GRADES Bowie State University Graduate, received a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood and Special Education, a first year teacher, and now a part of the Bladensburg Elementary School team… My name is Ms. Tasker! Greetings bulldog team, I am the special education teacher for 3 rd and 4 th grade! It is with great excitement that I welcome you all back to another great school year! I hope your summer break was relaxing and enjoyable! I’m looking forward to the first day of school to get to know all of you. I promise you, we are going to have a great time this year participating in many virtual programs, trips, and so much more!!!!!
RACHELLE SAMIA RD 3 GRADE READING My name is Rachelle M. Samia. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education at Holy Angel University in the Philippines. I completed my master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction at American College of Education in Chicago. This will be my 20 th year in Education. I have been teaching in Prince George’s County Public Schools for 13 years now. I have taught 2 nd and 1 st grade in the past. This will be my 3 rd year teaching third grade. I am married with 2 daughters and a son. I am thrilled to be heading into a new school year with an exciting group of 3 rd graders! I can’t wait to start teaching at BLADENSBURG ELEMENTARY! LUIS GONZALES-VELEZ ND ESOL: 2 GRADE My name is Luis Velez. I am from Puerto Rico. I have been an English teacher for 18 years. In 2004 I earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary education. Later in 2006, I became a certified English Language teacher. To be better prepared as a teacher, I decided to do a masters in ESOL which I obtained in 2011. Hope to meet you soon. Go Bulldogs!
