Baby Walkers • Baby walker injuries to children under 15 months have dropped 83%

Baby Walkers • Baby walker injuries to children under 15 months have dropped 83% between 1995 and 2003. • Falling down stairs accounts for majority of baby walker-related injuries. • Newly redesigned, safer baby walkers have special features that stop the walker at the top step.

Poison Prevention Packaging Act • Requires special child-resistant packaging for certain household substances. • Poisoning deaths to children under 5 years have declined substantially since PPPA went into effect in 1974. • Before 1974, an average of 200 children under age 5 died each year from poisonings. • Since the PPPA was enacted, poisoning deaths have declined to an average of under 30 deaths annually.

Trampolines • Since 1991, trampolinerelated injuries have almost tripled. • In 1991, 37, 500 injuries treated in ERs; in 2003, over 98, 400 injuries treated in ERs. • Over 80% of those injured on trampolines are children under 15 years.
