Scholarship means a commitment to learning. These students are willing to spend hours in

Scholarship means a commitment to learning. These students are willing to spend hours in reading and study, knowing the lasting benefits of a cultivated mind. We should continue to learn even when formal education has ended, for education ends only with life. Learning furnishes the lamp by which we read the past, and the light which illuminates the future. Candidates have the charge to continually expand their world through the opportunities inherent in scholarship.

Leadership exerts a wholesome influence on the school. In taking the initiative in class

Leadership exerts a wholesome influence on the school. In taking the initiative in class and school activities, the real leader strives to train and aid others to attain the same objective. A leader has self-confidence and will go forward when others hesitate. No matter what power and resources exist in a country, they are ineffectual without the guidance of a wise leader.

NJHS Officers Applicants will turn in applications to Mrs. Brown no later than April 21 st at 4: 15 pm. You will speak to the group for voting at our May 5 th meeting in the Library at 7: 45. Your speech is limited to 30 seconds. Officers for the 2017 -2018 school year will be announced soon thereafter. Officer positions for 2017 -2018: -President -Reporter (2) -Vice President -Historian -Treasurer -Parliamentarian -Secretary -Community Service Chair

Service can be described in various ways. Inyour daily routineof work, many opportunities arise to help others. Willingness to work for the benefit of those in need, without monetary compensation or without recognition, is the quality we seek in our membership.

Service Community Service is what you do to help others. Almost anything can count

Service Community Service is what you do to help others. Almost anything can count as community service, as long as you are not being paid. You must collect 10+ hours of community service per semester. New members need 5 for this semester by the May 12, 2017 deadline. Enter online at wranglernjhs. weebly. com

Service There are two mandatory service projects, one each semester. Choosing not to participate

Service There are two mandatory service projects, one each semester. Choosing not to participate in a service project will result in probation and possible dismissal. The service project from April 21, 2017 to May 5, 2017 is to collect items for “Stand Up for Kids. ” https: //www. youtube. com/watch? v=f. G 5 LNCIBCe 0 You will need to collect 2 item to fulfill the service project.

Service During the school year, there are numerous N. J. H. S. -sponsored community

Service During the school year, there are numerous N. J. H. S. -sponsored community service activities. Students may sign up for these at monthly meetings, depending on the time of year and the events that month. Possibilities include: • • Red Ribbon Week • • Class of 2018 service projects (at least 2) • • Helping at March induction (only for current members) • • Working at a school dance • • Runs/walks for charity–Relay for Life, Autism walk, Heart Walk, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, etc.

Character is the force within each individual which distinguishes that person from others. It is that without which no one can respect oneself, no hope to attain the respect of others. It is this force of character which guides one through life and, when once developed, grows steadily. It is the product of daily striving to make the right choice. By demonstrating such qualities as reliability, honesty and sincerity, we may hope to prove by example that we value character.

Citizenship is vital to the strength of our country. It requires effort and commitment.

Citizenship is vital to the strength of our country. It requires effort and commitment. Without it, there would be a lack of democracy. In the words of the late President John F. Kennedy, “Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country. ”

Probation/Dismissal Students may be put on 30 -day probation from NJHS for the following

Probation/Dismissal Students may be put on 30 -day probation from NJHS for the following reasons: GPA drops below 3. 5 (90 cumulative), failure to complete/turn in service hours, failure to receive passing conduct marks, ISS or other disciplinary infractions, and failure to attend meetings (students may only miss three).

Probation/Dismissal • While on probation, students may not participate in meetings, NJHS-sponsored social events

Probation/Dismissal • While on probation, students may not participate in meetings, NJHS-sponsored social events or community service opportunities. • Students on probation will have membership reinstated after 30 days. • Students can be dismissed from NJHS after they have already been on probation for any of the above infractions. The probation period is waived if the student commits a serious offense.
