Course Requirements--�Analyze Literature; �Study essay structure and MLA format; �Build grammar & vocabulary skills; �Conduct research and integrate evidence into essays & projects; �Participate in class discussion, and presentations.
Grades �All work written, oral, individual, or group will be given points, with the grade being based upon a weighted point scale at the end of each term �( See Course Expectations in Google Classroom). �Grades are weighted: 30% formative and 70% summative
Discipline & Academic Honesty Policies (See: VDL Handbook) VDL students should exhibit respect, integrity, responsibility, and honesty as part of their daily practice. Plagiarism and cheating will be referred to the administration and will follow school policy.
Absences and Tardy Policy (VDL Handbook) �Frequent absences and tardies put the student behind. �Remember , we are on a block schedule; therefore, �One day = Two days �Attend school daily �If students are absent, make-up work ASAP. Check Google Classroom daily! �Students are expected to be prompt, well prepared, and working on class work as soon as class begins.
Class Behavior (VDL Handbook) �All students have a right to learn – how students choose to behave has an impact on classmates as well as on themselves. �Students should exhibit respect, integrity, responsibility, and honesty as part of their daily practice. �Students are expected to pay attention and actively participate in class.
Class Materials �Computer �Noteook �Pencils and pens (erasable black or blue ink only) �Post-it notes (various colors) �Hi-lighters (at least 2 different colors) �The novel/literature that is currently being studied �A flash-drive is helpful to work on essays, etc.
