Welcome! Mrs. Shoemate’s 2 nd Grade Class

Behavior Chart --Each student has their own chart on desk. No clip moving! --Everyone starts on green and can move up or down depending on behavior choices. --If they move down to yellow they can earn the chance to move back to green but can’t go higher. --If they go to orange, they will earn timeouts based on the number of times I have to talk to them about their choices. --If your child gets on red, you will receive a note home. --Students will record their color at the end of the day in their planners.

Math Homework --Math homework is sent home daily. It should be a review of a previously taught concept. If your child struggles with it, please feel free to modify the assignment and write me a note.

Reading Homework --Students need to read at least 20 minutes a day and record on the reading log. --Students will also be required to respond to their reading once a week in the form of a letter. Each student will be assigned a day of the week, and they will be responsible for writing me a letter about something they read. --Letters will not be required on short weeks.

Kid. Blog http: //kidblog. org/Mrs. Shoemates. Class/ --Students will be able to respond to literature, science, math and more through this innovative website. It is safe and easy to use. --Parents will also be able to read the blogs and leave encouraging comments.

Parent Conferences --I will use www. volunteerspot. com as my online sign up sheet. I will email you and you can select the time that will work best for you. ***I will use this sign up sheet throughout the year for parties and other volunteer opportunities.
