Welcome! Introducing the Title One Program
What is Title One? • Title I funding began in 1965 under President Lyndon B. Johnson’s Elementary and Secondary Education Act, currently known as No Child Left Behind. • The intent of the law is a high-quality education for EVERY child, especially to provide services to students who are at risk of not meeting the state academic standards. • Title I funds are directed to schools whose free and reduced lunch participation is more than 40% of the student population.
Ways in Which Title One Funds are Used • Title One funds go to Ø 5 highly qualified Title One instructional assistants Ø 2 Reading Specialist • Staff development in researched-based best practices • Parent involvement events • Instructional materials

Title One Programs at NWR • Every student benefits from the Title One program and Title One resources • All EPIC groups meet daily for 30 -45 minutes during Language Arts Ø Small group instruction Ø Reading texts at their level Ø Linking texts to reading skills and strategies happening in the classroom
Information for Families • Home School Compact/Partnership to ensure your child’s success • Progress reports in addition to the regular report card for targeted students reading below gradelevel • Targeted students will have consistent progress monitoring and updates on their current reading levels • Online resources through school web site
