Where you can work • If you are here under an F 1 or

Where you can work • If you are here under an F 1 or J 1 student visa, you are limited to on campus work (unless you have been granted off campus authorization by the Office of Global engagement. ) • You can work for any Creighton department and also for Follett bookstore and SODEXO food service. • You are limited to work no more than 20 hours per week, all campus jobs combined. You can work up to 40 hours per week when your classes are not in session, such as Fall and Spring breaks, Winter and Summer breaks.

Student status • You must be enrolled at least ½ time in your program

Also bring your banking information. HR is located next to Public Safety on the NE corner of 23 and Burt St.

Federal Employment Eligibility Verification Form • This mandatory form is referred to as the I-9. • The Federal government mandates that all new employees must prove to their employer that they are legally eligible to work in the US. • Here at Creighton, you will complete the form on-line and documents are shown in person to a designated Creighton staff member. • The form must be completed before you can start work. 7

Federal Employment Eligibility Verification Form • You enter simple information and it only takes a few minutes to complete. • The key to the process is having the proper identification to show the authorized Creighton staff member. • The government is very strict about what documents can be accepted. They must be original and unexpired. • Photocopies, scans and faxes cannot be accepted. We have to swear we have witnessed originals! 8

W 4 Tax Withholding Form • When you are first hired, Creighton will require you to complete a Federal W 4 form for income tax withholding. Your earnings here are taxable. • Students can find the instructions confusing. You may want to consult Creighton’s office of Global Engagement or Human Resources about how many allowances you wish to claim. • We can’t give tax advice. It is your decision and it can be updated during the year if needed. 11

Direct Deposit • We recommend that you fill out a Direct Deposit form for your paychecks. Your checks will go directly to your bank account. This is a much more convenient and safe way to get paid. It means you won’t have to walk down to Human Resources to pick up your checks every other Friday. • You can use any banking institution including credit unions. • We need a voided check, or your bank routing number and your account number. If we don’t have a voided check, the first check will be pre-noted and you will be issued a physical check. These can be picked up in Human Resources (2222 Burt Street). • View your paystubs online through the HR self service website. http: //www. creighton. edu/hr/selfservice/ 12

Bring your passport, I-20 and I-94 and Creighton student ID. Also any mail with your address on it, such as bills from the landlord or electric bills. That office is located at : 604 N 109 th Ct, Omaha, NE 68154 • OFFICE IS LOCATED AT 108 TH AND DODGE ON THE NORTH SIDE. FROM DODGE HEADING WEST, TAKE THE OLD MILL, 108 TH ST EXIT NORTH. FOLLOW THE CURVE TO THE OLD MILL CENTRE. FROM WEST DODGE HEADING EAST, TAKE THE 120 -114 ST OLD MILL EXIT. FOLLOW THE CURVE TO 108 TH AVE; TURN LEFT, THEN NORTH AT OLD MILL CENTRE. • You will get a receipt from the SSA office that you can use temporarily when completing the Federal I-9 form on campus. You may begin to work prior to getting the actual card. • When you receive your social security card in the mail, take it to the Registrar office in Brandeis Hall, the Business office in Creighton Hall and Human Resources so they can update their records. Store the card in a SAFE PLACE.
