School-Parent Compact 5 Herman Leimbach Elementary, and the parents of the students participating in activities, services, and programs funded by Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) agree that this compact outlines how the parents, the school staff, and the students will develop a PARTNERSHIP to share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement.
As part of this Compact, the principal and school staff agree to: 6 Provide an encouraging atmosphere and safe environment that promote learning. Recognize and respect the special language, cultural and learning needs of students. Communicate regularly with parents through report cards, newsletters,
As part of this Compact, the principal and school staff agree to: 7 Assured a balanced curriculum based on the District standards, delivered through appropriate instruction, and measured by multiple assessments. Assure that all students have opportunities to learn and acquire the skills and knowledge they will need to become effective citizens.
As part of this Compact, teachers agree to: 8 Communicate regularly with parents through phone calls, notes sent home, and conferences. Hold parent conferences in the months of October and March. Provide supplementary instruction for students when needed. Have high expectations for all students. Assure a high quality-learning environment
As part of this Compact, 9 parents agree to: Assure that students get adequate sleep, healthy nutrition, and get to school on time. Attend school events and parent conferences and volunteer when possible. Encourage children to read by reading to them and listening to them read. Monitor homework and encourage students to do their best at all times. Expect that students will behave at school and follow school rules.
10 PARENT INVOLVEMENT POLICY Parental involvement means the participation of parents/guardians in regular, two-way, and meaningful communication involving student academic learning and other school activities, ensuring—that parents/guardians play an integral role in assisting their child’s learning;
11 PARENT INVOLVEMENT POLICY that parents/guardians are encouraged to be actively involved in their child’s education at school; that parents/guardians are full partners in their child’s education and are included, as appropriate, in decision-making and on advisory committees to assist in the education of their child; the carrying out of other activities, such as those described in section 1118 of the ESEA
12 PARENT INVOLEMENT POLICY: General Expectations The school and parents/guardians will jointly develop a School Parental Involvement Policy for distribution to parents/guardians of participating children. The school will distribute the School Parental Involvement Policy in an understandable and uniformat, and, to the extent practicable, in a language the parents/guardians can understand.
PARENT INVOLEMENT POLICY: General Expectations Cont. 13 The school will make the School Parental Involvement Policy available to the local community. The school will periodically update the School Parental Involvement Policy to meet the changing needs of parents/guardians and the school.
PARENT INVOLVEMENT POLICY: General Expectations Cont. 14 The school will adopt the School-Parent Compact as a component of its School Parental Involvement Policy. In carrying out the Title I, Part A parental involvement requirements, to the extent practical, the school will provide full opportunities for the participation of parents/guardians with limited English proficiency, parents/guardians with disabilities, and parents/guardians of migratory children.
