Fixing your timetable • The university year = two semesters • Module = course in a specific subject • Credits = value of each module for the overall degree (usually 20 each) • Each semester, you will normally complete modules worth a total of 60 credits (usually 3 modules) 11/4/2020 © The University of Sheffield
Different Kinds of Modules • Core modules: you have to do all of these • Restricted modules: you have to do some of these – Dual degree students only • Optional modules in English • Optional modules in other subjects using ‘unrestricted credits’ 11/4/2020 © The University of Sheffield
Core Texts • The School of English will be providing you with the majority of your required texts for core modules in your first year • See reading list on the induction web page • Pick up your Semester 1 books from Blackwell’s, Jessop West from Thursday 20 Sept • Please note you will be required to produce your UCard to collect your books

Registration Forms • White registration form: for your information only • = 120 credits for single honours students • OR 60 English modules for dual students • OR 70/50 split for dual students who have 10 credit modules • Go to registration in the Goodwin Sports Centre Wednesday 19 th September 9. 30 am (see calendar of events) • White form is for information only
Registration Forms • Yellow registration forms = less than 120 credits • If missing duals subject modules, contact dual department • Requested modules may have been declined or you have yet to choose modules
