Course Goals � Study the workings of contemporary New York City politics, taking into account elected officials, agencies and institutions, media, and social movements; � Understand climate change as a phenomenon with physical and social aspects, focusing on adaptation as a response, at the urban scale � Imagine the future using imagination that is informed by data and history � Describe the current waste management system in New York City and critically consider whether some form of waste-to-energy policy/infrastructure is right for NYC � Following these tangents, explore, research, and synthesize a piece of top level research on an area of interest to you. 10/16/2021 38
