Welcome Community College Counselors to our Virtual Counselor Information Session! Athens State University Fall 2020

Athens State offers over 50 majors, 40 minors and 4 Master’s Degree programs. From Accounting, Art, Biology, Criminal Justice, Education, Psychology, Computer Science, Health Care Management and much more! Master’s Degrees in: Religious Studies, Global Supply Chain and Logistics, Business Analytics & Strategic Management and Career and Technology Education We have flexible degree options with many programs offered completely online. We will work with your students to find the best path to educational goals!

OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM EXPERIENCES Students can participate in internship opportunities, work study and community engagement. • Students majoring in Acquisition and Contract Management-20 internship spots at Redstone Arsenal • Biology department offers wet lab research, field research in different parts of the country, marine biology labs, and computer modeling! • Students give back in a variety of ways- from collecting school supplies for local school districts to holding a pet ID workshop and more!

Campus Organizations Over 20 organizations to get involved in- from theater groups to student government, psychology to human resources. We also have 12 honor societies students can be a part of. 4

Student Services: Success coaches work with students by major to help them plan out their degree, review options and register for classes. Here to encourage and help you be the most successful! New tracking tool to help students graduate in less time, at lower cost and with the best possible outcome. Allows us to track student’s progress- sends us alerts if students are missing class, etc. Peer to peer mentorship program: new students paired with ‘senior’ student to assist with getting involved on campus, leadership opportunities, etc. MCCAIN HALL Veteran Affairs: Ranked #4 in Alabama for Vet Friendliness; top 15% in the nation! Disability services: Accommodations available Career services: help finding internships, jobs, resume writing and interview skills.

Student Services The Office of Student Inclusion Initiatives- designed to support a diverse student population and align programs and activities to grow minority enrollment. Men of Kennis -scholarship program: Free tuition for minority males wanting to teach. Writing Center-offers assistance with writing and communication projects. Students can make virtual or on campus appointments. Tutoring labs- in math, science and statistics, all free of charge to students.

Admissions Requirements: Minimum 36 earned transferable semester hours from regionally accredited institution(s) prior to term of admission Minimum 15 hours applicable to general education requirements. Minimum 2. 0 cumulative transfer GPA on a 4. 0 scale. 7
