Guide to a GREAT Freshman Year ➢Motivation, Persistence, and Determination ➢Have a plan of attack but stay FLEXIBLE. Your interests, strengths, and performance can change ➢Push yourself to be YOUR best. Do not be influenced by others suggestions. What is good for others does not mean it is best for you. ➢Stay involved in school activities - they’re fun!
Common Myths • Acceptance to college is not solely based on how many AP courses you take. . . be well rounded • You do not need a pathway to graduate or to be considered by a college or employer for a career field • You do not have to take AP Human Geography in order to take other AP courses in 10 -12 grades. • Taking a class online does not mean it is easier. There is less support, less leniency, and no face-to-face instruction. You must be very self-motivated an independent learner. • If you take a course over the summer, it does not guarantee you a seat in the next course of the sequence or the course of your choice. • Community service/volunteer hours are not required to graduate
