Graduation Requirements Class of 2020 Course Credits Years Requirements English 4 4 Two semesters in each of the 9 – 12 grades. Mathematics 3 3 Six semesters. Algebra I and above Science 3 3 Social Science 3 3 Health/PE 2 2 Technology/Fine Arts/World Language 3 3 Electives 6 Six semesters any grade (2 semesters biological science and 2 semesters physical science) 4 semesters must be lab science. Six semesters any grade (1 semester World History and 2 semesters US History) One semester Wellness I, one semester Wellness II, one semester Healthful Living, and one semester P. E. selected from P. E. course offerings. Six semesters any grade of World Language, Professional Technical, Art, Drama, Music, or Applied Arts. (Any one area or in combination) Twelve semesters, any content area. Total Credits 24 6 classes all 8 semesters
Essential Skills • Students will demonstrate proficiency in the following Essential Skills by earning a “meets or exceeds” score on the appropriate statewide assessment test: • English Language Arts • Mathematics • Students will have multiple options and opportunities to demonstrate their proficiency in the Essential Skills. • Students will begin state testing in the 11 th grade.

Maximizing Freshman Academic Success • Option to begin World Language sequence sophomore year • Check your student’s grades and attendance regularly online • Access a teacher’s blog, calendar, or send them an email with questions or concerns • Have your student attend their teacher’s help hours (before school, after school, lunch) • Encourage your student to check their WHS email • Register for the Parent Email- be involved and informed • Email is sent every Friday afternoon
Maximizing Freshman Personal/Social Success • Encourage your student to get involved- participating in positive and meaningful school activities enhances growth and development • Invite your student to have open communication with you about school, activities, friends, decisions, concerns, challenges, accomplishments, etc. • Encourage your student to establish relationships with teachers, school counselors and administrators to feel safe and supported and to know who, where, when and how to ask for help • Maintain communication with the school so that we can collaborate, problem solve, share resources and provide support
Online Forecasting • The counselors will visit Athey Creek and Wood Middle Schools to explain the online forecasting process • Athey: Monday, March 14 • Wood: Tuesday and Thursday, March 15 and 17 • Families may access the WHS PASS system to make changes to their forecasting until Monday, April 11 • Each time a change is made, an email will be sent to the student’s and parent’s email. • Students log in on the WHS website: • • http: //www. wvhs. wlwv. k 12. or. us/ PASS System (upper right corner) 16 -17 Forecasting Use Login and Pass Pin

Summer School • • • WHS will host Summer School Tuesday, June 14 -Friday, July 8 Students will have July 4 th off for the holiday Wellness I Online Registration will open Monday, March 14 The summer school registration and class schedule will posted on the main WHS website and also, at Academics/Summer School
Summer Registration • Data verification email will be sent mid-July • Fee and picture forms will be mailed mid-July • Students can have their school picture taken on August 11 th or 12 th • Students will be able to access their schedules online using the PASS system in mid-August

University of California (UC) system requires one year of World History World Language 2 -4 Same World Language Visual/Performing Arts 1 UC system requires one year of same visual or performing art. UW requires a half year.
Advanced Placement Courses (AP) • Wilsonville High School offers Advanced Placement courses in a variety of subject areas including English, Math, Science, Social Science, World Language and Fine Arts • Advanced Placement courses are an excellent opportunity for any student to: • • Take college level courses in high school Potentially earn college credit Demonstrate strength of schedule Pursue interests and discover new passions
Advanced Placement Courses (AP) • Students typically take their first AP course in the sophomore or junior year. • We encourage all students to consider an AP course while in high school. • AP Access for 9 th graders: AP Human Geography • AP Human Geography counts as a full year of World History
Oregon Public Universities “D” Policy • Students must satisfactorily complete, with a grade of C or better, 14 core subject requirements. • 4 years of English • 3 years of Math culminating in Algebra II or higher • 3 years of Science • 3 years of Social Science • 2 years of the same World Language
