WELCOME Back to School Nikki Boccaleoni (Ms. B) 5 th Grade D 2 2016 -17
Meet Your TEACHER • I graduated from Sonoma State with a degree in environmental studies and a Teaching Credential. • This is my sixth year teaching 5 th grade at Waldo. This is my favorite grade to teach and I love being here at Waldo. • I am a single mother. I have a 19 year old son, who is freshman attending California State University Sacramento on a football Scholarship. I am a very proud mother. • • • I live here in Rohnert Park with my crazy cat, Charley, and my son when he is able to come home. I consider myself a life long learner and take every to further my education and improve my teaching. I love to travel, cook, read, and work on my computer.

Classroom RULES Be Safe * Be Responsible * Be Respectful Three levels of classroom management: 1. Whole class – special activities for being on task 2. Table points – weekly incentives for table groups 3. Individual – Tickets for a weekly drawing for on task behavior and class participation. Consequences for individual behavior. Consequences include walking laps, writing, work in another class, notice of concern, phone call home, trip to the office. Job Chart helps classroom run smoothly and helps foster responsibility.

Lunch PROCEDURES 12: 15 – 1: 00 Recess and Lunch. 5 th grade plays first. Lunch from Home – healthy w/no candy or soda Students are welcome to use the microwave in the classroom
School DISMISSAL 3: 10 Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 12: 15 Tuesday
Attendance POLICY It is important for students to be in School on time every day! “We cannot teach them, if they are not here!” A student coming late starts the day behind everyone else which is not a good feeling and it is disruptive to the class.
Grading POLICY (90 -100%) 4 - Exceeds grade level standards (89 -75%) 3 – Meets grade level standards (74 -60%) 2 – Approaching grade level standards (59% and below) 1 – Below grade level shows little effort with missing and Incomplete assignments.
Homework POLICY There will be homework Monday – Thursday Reading will be sent home on Monday: Students are expected to read 20 – 30 minutes a night, fill in Reading Log, do one “ 4 in a Row” reading response each night. Reading homework for the week is due on Friday. Math: Spiral Review is four columns of math that reviews all the Math standards. Students will do one Column a night and return the next day to correct in class. Weekly Reports - Come home on Friday due Monday, will accept Tuesday. Other work that you will see come home: book reports, state report project, collect supplies for STEM projects, unfinished or missed work Student’s turning in all work are invited to watch a movie and have lunch in the classroom on Friday.
