Changes • Seating Chart • Warm-Ups • Grading • Formative and Summative Discussion • Cell Phones
Seating Chart • You may sit where you like as long as these conditions are met: • Stay on task • Stop talking when I am giving directions or announcements • If I feel these conditions aren’t being met, I’ll make a seating chart.
Warm Ups • Warm ups will no longer be graded • Warm up questions and discussions will be on the test • You can answer the warm up questions in your note book • Use them later to study
Grading • Grading Percentages have been changed: • • Classwork = 10% Lab/Projects = 25% Tests = 50% Final = 15% • Less emphasis on class work • More emphasis on lab work (cat dissection) and tests • This grading scale is closer to an actual college course grading scale.
Formative and Summative Assessments • Do you know the difference between the two? • Formative • • Primarily for feed back May be corrected or done again Will go over in class Examples: • Class work • Unit tests • Quizzes • Summative • • Record of what you have learned May not be corrected or done again. Will not go over in class Examples: • Final • Some Lab Tests and Quizzes due to resource availability
Cell Phones • Cell phones should be put away during class. • You may use them during the 5 minute break or as a resource for certain assignments • They should not be out during lecture or videos • No listening to music during class unless given permission
