Welcome Back! September 2020
• Dear Children, • We are looking forward to welcoming Y 1 – Y 6 back to school on Wednesday 2 nd September 2020. Please read through this presentation with an adult so that you know what to expect in school. • Reception children and Nursery children will have had starting times from their teacher. • When you do come back, you may notice a few changes that have been put in place to keep you and everybody in our school community safe. We would like to share some of these with you so that you know what to look out for on your return. • In September we will all be learning and talking about ‘Wellbeing. ’ We want to help and support everybody with strategies to stay healthy, happy in the year ahead.
In the meantime, we hope you find this information helpful in preparation for September.
Staying Safe! • When you return to school, our ‘Good to be Green’ rules and values are still the same. We want to make sure that our school is still a safe and happy place for everybody…….

Code of Conduct We have added some extra rules to keep everybody safe. This is called our Code of Conduct. You will already know some of these rules 1. Look for new signs around school and listen carefully to instructions.
Code of Conduct You will have heard of ‘social distancing’ or the 2 metre rule. Around our school there will be lots of markers on the floor to help you keep 2 metres between yourself and everybody in our school. 2. Always follow the social distancing rule and stay with your own group.
Code of Conduct Please remember to have a tissue in your pocket or up your sleeve at all times. There will be boxes of tissues in every class so that you can replace yours if you need to. • th • • 3. Help to stop the spread of germs by always carrying a tissue
Code of Conduct • Hand hygiene is extremely important. Your classroom will have bottles of hand sanitizer to help reduce the spread of germs. Your class will also be sent to the toilet during the day to wash your hands. 4. Regularly wash your hands for 20 seconds and use the sanitizers provided.
Code of Conduct • We all have a responsibility to look after each other. Please be considerate at all times. Use your tissue to help stop the spread of germs. 5. Never cough or spit at or towards another person.
Arriving in the morning • When you arrive on the first morning: 2 nd Sept 2020, at 8. 45 am there will be numbers on the railings by the gate you come into school from. This is to allow you and your parents to line up at a safe social distance when you are waiting to come into school. On the playground there will be markings on the floor to help you keep apart as well as signs and arrows to help you follow the one way system. Please do not bring anything to school with you apart from an outdoor coat, if needed and your packed lunch in a throw away plastic bag.
Arriving in the morning -On the first day back the KS 1 gates will be open at and 8. 45 am - Year 1 and 2 line up to the left of the gates. Year 3 and 4 to the right -The main gates by the barrier will be the gate Year 5 and 6 head to. Year 5 to the left of the gates , Y 6 to the right. -Reception and Nursery Parents have meetings scheduled for Wed. 2 nd Sept with their new class teacher – all info will be given at this meeting -All pupils will be met by their teacher at their gate.
Around the School • Some areas of the school will be out of bounds for children. Remember to look for the signs to keep you safe. • Your teachers will go through the rules again on the first day
In class • When you arrive on the school playground , your new and previous teachers will help you to find your new classroom. • You will have some time with your previous and new teacher.
Staying Safe & Hydrated • The water fountains will be out of use. Instead you can bring a clear water bottle filled with water and fill it at the sinks in class/department. • Please remember to put on sun cream in the morning before you leave the house, if needed • Also bring a coat (with your name in ) if it is a bit chilly!
Lunch times and Play Times • At playtimes you will be able to play with the children in your class. We have split the playground into zones to keep you safe. It is important that you stay with the children in your class. • The staff will organise equipment and games for you to play with. Please listen to instructions about where your class can play.
Lunch • Every morning your teachers will tell you what is on the menu for lunch. You will be able to choose your meal. • Your lunch will be eaten in the dining room. • Departments have different times in the halls, and all tables will be cleaned and sanitised after use. • 2 nd / 3 rd/ 4 th September menu …
Toilets -Children can use the toilet in their own departments: -Class Owen and Adams – use the toilets in their classrooms -Classes Barlow, Moore and Bamber use the toilets in the KS 1 department -Classes Plessington and Howard use the Lower Key Stage Two toilets -Class Kirby use the toilets outside their classroom _Classes Rigby, Fisher and Clitherow use the Upper Key Stage Two toilets
Information • Children wear school uniform, with appropriate black school shoes to enable then to play outside. • Please send in PE kits/black pumps in their PE bags – all with names on • KS 1/Reception /Nursery can bring in their book bags • KS 2 pupils will be given a SSPP plastic homework/book bag on the first day
Other equipment • The children will need to bring in a clear plastic water bottle, SSPP water bottles are sold in school, with their name on. Water only – no other drinks allowed • Pupils cannot bring in any other bags except SSPP reading /homework bags and PE bags. • All necessary items must be brought in with the pupils • Parents are not allowed on site, and therefore cannot bring in equipment through the office.
Sickness Absence Government guidance states that it is essential that pupils who are ill must stay at home. • Parents need to have the school app on their phones and fill in the ‘Absence reporting’ form found in the tab labelled ‘More’ at the bottom of the page • Or telephone school on 0151 477 8205 and select option 1 – reporting a pupil absence
